I am not such a big fan of Miley Cuyrus. Okay, let me rephrase that. I am not a fan of her. However, I must admit that she does have beautiful songs like this one and The Climb.

This particular song was from her 2009 album but was included in the soundtrack of The Last Song. I saw the movie a week ago and I really liked it and when I heard this song playing during the end credits, I instantly fell in love with it.☺

1. Where are you from? - The Philippines.☺

2. If you could live any place in the world, where would you live? - Europe. It's a toss-up between Paris and Italy.

3. What's your favorite blog? I'll check them out of course! - I have a lot of favorite blogs, blogs I visit on a daily basis. One of them is this: The Certified Pinoy Blogger. It's a blog authored by a fellow Filipino who's working in Singapore. So basically, his blog is about his rants and raves as a Filipino working in a foreign country.

4. What is your biggest blogging pet peeve? - I guess blogs which don't have original content. I've seen blogs where most of the posts are just taken from other websites. I know there's nothing wrong with that, after all to each his own. But if only those people would try to write original content, they'll see that it is easy and better than just copying and pasting content.

5. What's your favorite TV show this season? I need a new show! :) - As much as I want to suggest a show, I know that what's showing in my side of the world isn't shown there.☺ But if there's one show I watch regularly, it would have to be Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown.☺

6. What's your favorite 'down' time {nothing computer related}? - Reading, solving word puzzles, baking.

7. Are you a parent? If so, what's your favorite thing to do with your children? - I'm not.☺

8. What about your blog, have you considered changing? - I've already had a blog makeover and I am now using my own domain name so...but there's always room for improvement, right? I guess I'll consider changing something once I see what needs changing.

9. What do you do for a living (if you work outside the home or if you work at home)? - I write for a living.☺

10. What is your favorite song at the moment? What is your favorite song ever? - I have lots of favorite songs but currently, my favorite is Paramore's The Only Exception.

11. What is your favorite niche TV channel to watch? - Don't really have any favorite niche/s.

12. If you could have any career, what would it be and why? - Ever since I was little I've always wanted to write so I never really thought of something else.

13. What is your favorite outfit? - Shirt, shorts/jeans/capris, flipflops/Chucks/slip-ons.

14. If you could tell your teenage self something, what would you say? - Listen to Mom, she knows better.☺

15. What is your favorite recipe? - I cook but I'm not an expert so I don't really have any specialty. LOL! Oh, okay...I cook this very simple pasta dish - canned tuna, spaghetti noodles, tomato sauce and lots and lots of cheese - and every time I cook it, my brother who's not really big on pasta dishes eats more than 2 servings.=p

16. What is the funniest joke you've ever heard? - I've heard lots but can't think of a single one right this very moment.

17. What is your favorite vacation spot and why? - I'm not big on beaches. Locally, I'd rather spend my vacation in the coolest city (literally, climate-wise) here in the Philippines, Baguio City.

18. What are you most excited about with fall here? - I could only wish for an additional season here in the Philippines...

19. Did you envision yourself to be where you are today ten years ago? If not, what did you envision? - Honestly, no. 10 years ago, I was in a relationship which I thought was IT. So during that time, when I looked 10 years into the future, I envisioned myself as being happily married with kids and probably working at the same time.

20. If money were no object, what would your dream house look like? -

21. What is your all-time favorite Disney movie? - Oh my...okay, I'd go for Cinderella and Snow White.

22. What blog do you think isn't getting enough notice? - Hmmm. Excellent question. Join me in my quest to look for one.

25 September 2010

1. Who in your life do you think behaves and thinks the most like you do? - Aside from my parents from whom I take after in more ways than I can imagine, I'd have to say my nephew and one of my nieces. I can't think of a friend who behaves and thinks like me. I've always had friends who are opposites of what I am.

2. As a kid, were you ever wrongly accused (and punished, if it went that far) for something you didn't do? If so, what was it? What happened? - Never.

3. What about as an adult, were you ever wrongly accused for something you didn't do?? Do you think it's worse to be accused as a child or an adult? Why/why not? - I think I have been. I think it's worse when you're an adult because once you're of age, it goes without saying that you're already responsible for all your actions and decisions. So being wrongly accused of something is like a slap in the face because it's like questioning your ability and capacity as an adult to do things.

3. What’s the scariest weather situation you’ve experienced? - A few months ago, there was a strong typhoon which hit the Philippines and unfortunately, the typhoon passed directly over Metro Manila. electricity was cut off (I think we went on without electricity for 2 days) and I was lying in bed in total darkness and I could hear the wind howling and the roofs of our neighbors' houses being ripped apart by the wind. Scary.

4. If you could wake up tomorrow morning in another country, where would you want to be and why? - The USA. So I can be with my parents, sister and my sister's family.

5. Instead of going to work Monday, if you could spend the entire day doing something else--any one or two things that you absolutely love doing--what would you do? - I work from home but I get the point so I have to say I'd rather go shopping or go to a theme park with my family.

6. What sites (other than meme sites) do you use most to help you post on your blog? - Geez...I can't really think of anything else other than paid-to-post sites because the stuff I post in my blogs are mostly my rants and raves as a woman. Oh, yeah, I post about some of the games I play in Facebook.

7. Check out a post on your blog from six months ago (March 2010) and tell us what is different now about your blog and/or life? - 6 months ago, I was still using a free template but after my blog's anniversary, I decided to ask designing genius Kaye to give my blog a makeover. Also, March marked my 33rd year of existence on this earth. LOL! What else? Most of my posts in March of this year centered around the contest I held for my blog's anniversary so I guess what's different now is that I'm under less stress.☺

8. What was the last photograph you took? - I took 3 pictures: my black purse, black ring and black leather bracelet. Had to take the pictures for a meme I join every Thursday.

9. Which fashion trend do you believe is the most horrendous and why? - Probably the grunge look. I'm not such a big fan of unkempt looking clothes and make-up. I guess my fashion sense only borders along sleek and classic.

24 September 2010

Nah, I'm not one. I wouldn't even dream of being a somnambulist. I wouldn't want to end up like one of those characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet. LOL!

However, this particular day, I feel as though I am one. It's like I am going through the notions of this day while at a dreamlike state. I've drank mugs and mugs of coffee but I still feel as though I'm just being swept away by the wind. This feels weird because as far as I remember, I was able to get enough sleep last night.

I woke up feeling incapacitated to work. I even told Kaye earlier today that I will take a walk just to wake my system up (actually, I told her I'll stroll along with her: she in Baguio, me in Paranaque. LOL!). I did but the walk wasn't enough to fire me up. So yeah, I officially feel like a somnambulist now.

I just hope all the coffee I drank today won't take effect later when I am ready to literally doze off to dreamland.

23 September 2010

In less than 2 weeks, my parents will be arriving already. Last week, I started arranging my room because that’s where they will be sleeping while their would-be room is being constructed. Yes, my parents and I will be roomies. My room isn’t too big and neither is it too small. However, I am pretty sure I would need to make room for a desk for my dad that’s why it took me quite some time to finish re-arranging the furniture in my room.

My dad loves to read and he’ll also be setting up a satellite office for his travel agency, thus the need for a desk. He told me he’ll look for that his first order of business as soon as they’ve settled here is to go over some office furniture desks in the hopes of finding one that’s perfect for him. I plan to go with him when he starts hunting for a desk because I just might use the desk from time to time as well so it has to get my stamp of approval.

I’m hoping we can find one that’s affordable but made of good quality materials. Perhaps something that looks like this:

1. We are changing your name. You have no choice. You get to pick it, but we must approve it. You must have a good reason. Ok, what is the name and reason? - Princess. Because I am one. LOL!☺

2. I say Shotgun, you say? - Duck!

3. We are sending you away. Africa or Mexico? - Mexico.☺

4. When you're home alone, do you still close the door when you use the restroom? - No.

5. Berleen told me that I have to ask a mean question. Tell us about a horrible memory. - I can sum it up in 2 words: my ex-boyfriend. Oh, is that 2 or words?

6. What are your plans for October? - Throw a welcome home party for my parents, visit relatives and shop til I drop.☺

7. Is there anyone that you regret ever meeting ? - Please refer to # 5.☺

8. You have 3 months left to live, what do you do? - Do everything in my bucket list.

9. You wake up in an unfamiliar place, what is your first reaction? - Look at my ring finger to check if I'm wearing a cheap wedding band. Need to make sure I wasn't drugged and dragged all the way to Vegas.
10. Your phone rings at 4am, just before you kill this person, who do you expect it would be? - Jc, a guy friend.

11. You're having a bad day, what one thing can make your day better? - Sleep? Yeah, I think I'll sleep the bad day through and hope that when I wake up, things would be better.

12. You are doing a meme written by the blogosphere's shadiest character. Is there anything else that you should be doing right now? - Hell no! I've waited the whole week for this!☺

13. If money were not a problem, (and it never is, right? Yes, I stole this f$%*ing question. Sue me.) where would you like to live? - My own city. Screw that. MY OWN COUNTRY, with my own set of rules and each city named after my loved ones.

22 September 2010

“The best things in life are FREE.” I think that adage still holds true today especially now that the effects of the economic crunch is felt all over the world. I, for one, love freebies and as long as I can take advantage of such, I would. It doesn’t matter if the freebies are given away in groceries, supermarkets or online; partaking of free stuff just feels fulfilling and I’m sure a lot of you out there would agree with me on that.

Nowadays, it pays to be very vigilant and always be on the lookout for things which can save us a whole lot of money. One recent discovery I made is the Free SMS services from net2mobiles.com. The service is perfect for me because it allows me to save on cell phone credits. My sister, BIL and nieces live in the USA and I must admit that sending them text messages can be quite expensive. I can talk to them through IM but during those times when they’re not at home, I can only communicate with them using SMS so you can only imagine how helpful this innovation is for me. The best part is that I can send the messages to their cell phones using my Internet connection!

I’m still trying to study the site but I saw that I need toregister first in order to take advantage of their free SMS services. So I’m going to get back to reading the fine print and register as soon as possible.

That One Mom

20 September 2010

I can't believe it's Monday again! I guess the weekend flew by so fast because I was busy cleaning my room. Yep, I cleaned my room and after 4 days, it's all spic and span.☺ It's not too big but I had to gradually clean it because I didn't want to aggravate my allergies. So there.

Anyway, my share for today's Music Monday is an original Filipino music. The singer is also the songwriter (this guy Nyoy Volante is actually one of my favorite local singer/songwriter because he writes beautiful music). He actually wrote this song for his (ex)girlfriend who's also a singer. They've broken up since and he made a cover of the song he wrote for her and I have to say that I like his version better.☺ This song happens to be one of my favorite songs. Why? Listen and you'll find out why.☺ Enjoy everyone!

Someday you’re gonna realize
One day you’ll see this through my eyes
By then I won’t even be there
I’ll be happy somewhere
Even if I cared

I know you don’t really see my worth
You think you’re the last girl on earth
Well I’ve got news for you
I know I’m not that strong
But it won’t take long
Won’t take long

‘Coz someday someone’s gonna love me
The way I wanted you to need me
Someday someone’s gonna take your place
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see I won’t even miss you
Someday, someday

Right now I know you can tell
I’m down and I’m not doing well
But one day these tears they will all run dry
I won’t have to cry sweet goodbye

'Coz someday someone’s gonna love me
The way I wanted you to need me
Someday someone’s gonna take your place
oohh.. One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see I won’t even miss you
someday i know someone’s gonna be there

Someday someone’s gonna love me
The way I wanted you to need me
Someday someone’s gonna take your place
One day I’ll forget about you
You’ll see I won’t even miss you
Someday, someday..

Cheers to all of us thieves!

1. At what time of your life were you happiest and why? - I guess when I was a kid. I mean life with no worries, who wouldn't be happy, right?

2. Where and when did you meet the love of your life? - As cheesy as it may sound, my family is my life and they are love of my life so I guess I can say I met them ever since I breathed my first.

3. Favourite item of clothing ever or most treasured possession? - Currently, my Old Navy denim shorts. When you live in the Philippines, shorts will definitely be your favorite item of clothing.

4. Must-have makeup or beauty item? - Lip and cheek tint.☺

5. What do you think is your worst vice or fault .. honestly? - Procrastination? LOL!

6. Would you tell your friend, if you knew her husband/wife was cheating on her/him? - I'm an honest friend so...yes. I don't buy that "what she doesn't know won't hurt her" crap.

7. What ambitions, wishes or desires, for your life, do you still hold close to your heart? - I still want to be able to write a book...or a novel.

8. Where do you see yourself five years from now? - Married, hopefully. LOL! But still doing what I love most - writing.

9. If you had the choice of any talent with the penalty that you would lose a talent in exchange, what would you want to gain, and what would you be willing to loose? - My only talent is writing, I think, and I can't afford to lose it even if I would gain some other talent in exchange.

10. Name three things that you do want completed in your life before retiring? - Buy or build my dream house, put up my own business(es) and go on a trip around the world with my loved ones.

11. Of all of the people out there who would have been your fantasy date? Date, not romance... - Awww...it's a toss between Channing Tatum and Chris Evans.

12. Google put another spell on you, you have just changed genders for 48 hours... what are you going to do with your 2 days? - I'd look for that mean girl in school, make her fall in love with me, then leave her after 2 days!

13. If you owned your own island, and got to make it your own country, what would you call it? And why? - I'd probably cross the bridge when I get there. I'm not really good at thinking up names.

14. If you rubbed the lamp and got 3 wishes, what would they be? - I'd wish for those 2 things I mentioned in # 10. That way, I wouldn't have to wait until I'm over 50 before I accomplish them.

15. What is your earliest memory of puberty? - Geez. I can't even remember when it officially began.

16. If you got banished to your Island alone and could only bring 5 things, what would they be? - My laptop, my cell phone, my pillows, my clothes and an airplane. LOL!

18 September 2010

1. When was the last time you cried? - Really cried? Gosh...I can't even remember when. I guess it was when I still had this notion that my last relationship was worth fighting for so when there were misunderstandings, I'd cry a lot. But when I realized it wasn't, I realized my tears were too precious to waste on that guy.

2. If you could wake up tomorrow with a new talent, what would it be? - Oh! I wanna wake up tomorrow and be able to paint...as in really paint and create a masterpiece.

3. Who is someone (other than yourself) would you like to go back into your past and talk to and why? - I want to go back to the time when I was 14 with my 2 best friends from high school. I want the 3 of us to make a promise that we would remain the best of friends even until we grow old (obviously, that's something that didn't happen so now the 3 of us are strewn all over the place :( ).

4. What is your favorite meal eating out? - Japanese and Italian.

5. Do you feel energized or drained by being in a group situation? If the answer is "it depends," on what does it depend? - It depends on the people I'm with. If they're driven, then surely I'd be energized by them.

6. What word do you use far too frequently? - Basically.☺

7. What’s a word you’ve invented? (alternate question: What needs a word but doesn’t have one yet?) - I didn't invent it but I first heard it from my manager and now almost everybody's using it: CHILLAX. He always tells us to chillax when he notices that we're stating to panic or are very pressured at work.

8. Pick out one of your favorite songs. Go to Song Facts and tell us about the song's history. - I have a lot of favorite songs but the first song that came to my mind was Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. Here's the song's facts, verbatim:
  • Bob Carlisle wrote this song for his daughter Brook. Carlisle is a Contemporary Christian singer. The album is one of the best selling Christian album ever.
  • Bob Carlisle said on the liner notes of Wow #1 Hits: "'Butterfly Kisses' is not so much a song about fatherhood. It's more a song about gratitude and imperfection - 'for all I've done wrong, I must have done something right.' It's also a song about appreciation of time well spent. As with any good thing, there is a bittersweet sadness in letting go. I hoped to capture in this song the beauty of the relationship between father and daughter as well as its inevitable change. This song affected more than dads. After the first concert where I sang it, women surrounded me telling me stories about their fathers. I had always thought of the song from the perspective of a dad but I hadn't thought of its impact upon daughters."
  • This won the 1997 Grammy for Best Country Song.

9. What is your absolute favorite piece of furniture you have and why? - My bed! Need I say more?☺

17 September 2010

After watching Letters to Juliet the other night, we decided to watch another Amanda Seyfried movie again last night. Although I've watched Amanda in Mean Girls, I wasn't a fan. That is until I watched her in Mamma Mia and realized that she doesn't only know how to act but she's a great singer too. Anyway, the movie last night was was a double treat for me because her partner in the movie was Channing Tatum!

I've been following Channing Matthew Tatum's career ever since I watched him in Coach Carter.☺ Anyway, I'm sure some of you already know what this film is about. It's based on a book written by no less than Nicholas Spark so you can only imagine that the film is as good as The Notebook. I've noticed, though, that the movie ended differently from the book version. At any rate, I can say that I loved the movie's ending better.☺
Special Forces Army Sergeant John Tyree (Channing Tatum) is home on a two-week leave from Germany. He meets Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried) after he dives into the ocean to retrieve Savannah's purse that had fallen off the pier. John is smitten by Savannah and falls in love at first sight. Savannah is a college student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is on spring break and is helping build a house for Habitat for Humanity. John joins in with Savannah to help build the house. Along the way a budding romance occurs, and Savannah falls deeply in love with John. As she is about to go back to college, she promises to write John overseas during the next 12-months until he returns to her after completing his enlistment. Their love is put to the test when John reenlists after the 9/11 attack.
I think this movie epitomizes how powerful TRUE LOVE can be - not even distance nor betrayal can change how one feels towards another. This movie certainly answers the question, "What does it mean to truly love another?"☺♥

16 September 2010

10. What number blog post is this for you? - 415th. I moved some of my older posts to my other blogs.

9. You are driving down a road and your GPS says turn right, but the road has a Dead End sign. You check your GPS and according to it's map, there is a road at the end of the Dead End road that you need to turn onto. Do you follow the GPS? - I don't drive so I don't need a GPS now, do I?.☺

8. If you had a $2 bill, would you spend it? - No! I'd frame it for posterity's sake.☺

7. When there is nobody else around and you sneeze or cough, do you cover your mouth? - Of course. You don't forgo good manners just because no one is around.

6. You are a DJ at a radio station and your first guest is Bud... what is the first question you are going to ask him? - How's the tequila Bud?☺

5. Have you ever stopped to help a stranger with a flat tire? - No. I don't even know how to drive so how the heck am I supposed to know how to change a flat tire?

4. You get on an airplane and you find that your seat neighbor is Kimber... what do you talk about or do you ignore her completely? - I don't know Kimber (I think) so I guess I'd devote my time on the book I'm reading. My mom said never to talk to strangers.

3. Have you ever rode an elephant? - No and I wouldn't dare dream to.

2. Time to bitch & moan! What is your biggest complaint about your current friends on Facebook? - It's not really a complain and I'm sure some of you would agree on this: I hope friends would ask permission first before they start tagging you for stuff which you're totally clueless about.

1. School is back in session for all little girls and boys now. What, in your life, changes when kids go back to school? - I don't have kids so...NOTHING!☺
Last night was a movie night and since we've exhausted all the horror and action/adventure films we have on stock, we decided to watch Letters to Juliet.

The movie stars Amanda Seyfried and since I've been a fan ever since I watched her in Mamma Mia, I just had to watch this movie of hers.

The movie is about a young American named Sophie who travels to the city of Verona. As we all know, Verona is the home of star-crossed lover Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague. There's this one house there in Verona (yes, one with a balcony), supposedly "Juliet's house", where people troop to everyday and there they leave letters addressed to Juliet; letters seeking Juliet's advice about love. Intrigued with the concept, Sophie follows the woman who came to pick up all the letters and Sophie learned that there is a group of volunteers called "Secretaries of Juliet" who respond to the letters. On Sophie's second day "at work", she discovers a later dated 1951 in one of the crags in Juliet's house. She answered the letter and unbeknown to her, she inspired the author of the letter to travel from London all the way to Italy in search of her long-lost love. The unexpected meeting between Sophie and the letter's author Claire, played by veteran actress Vanessa Redgrave, set off a chain of events that brought love into both of their lives in ways they never could have imagined.

It was a wonderful film and towards the end of the film, I found myself with tears in my eyes. Yes, I had to sleep with puffy eyes!☺ But it was all worth it. Oh, and I loved the soundtrack of the film, too. The soundtrack included Taylor Swift's Love Story.♥ If you haven't seen the movie yet and you're looking for a feel-good love story, I highly recommend this one.☺

15 September 2010

I'm watching Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown right now and the teams would be fighting for Immunity. There are 3 teams, Magan, Sar Mayee and Nagar (I personally like this team) and the Immunity Challenge involved carrying a load of beach sand on the shoulders of the "strongest" team member. The weight of the load will be determined by how many points they would score on a ball game. So one team scores 22, the other 23 and the last 26. That equals to the same amount of weight in kilos of beach sand.

Team Sar Mayee chose Brapanese actor/model Akihiro Sato as their strongest and Team Nagar chose model Jon Hall. Both are men, both are obviously strong. But the love of me, I can't believe how chivalrous (pun intended!) the "guys" of Team Magan were. They had 2 men in the team but they chose Elma Muros, an older woman, to carry the load! Geez!

Now I truly believe that chivalry is dead!

13 September 2010

This is another Brian McKnight song that I really love. I wasn’t such a big fan of inspirational music but when I heard this the first time, I had to do a double-take.

Dark is the night
I can weather the storm
Never say die
I’ve been down this road before

I’ll never quit
I’ll never lay down
See I promised myself I would never let me down

(chorus)
So I’ll never give up
Never give in
Never let a ray of doubt slip in
And if I fall
I’ll never fade
I’ll just get up and try again
Never lose hope
Never lose faith
There’s much too much at stake
Upon myself I must depend
I’m not looking for a place ashore
I’m gonna win

Won’t stop me now
There’s still a ways to go
Some way somehow
Whatever it takes I know

I’ll never quit
I’ll never go down
I’ll make sure they remember my name 100 years from now

(chorus)

When it’s all said and done
My once in a lifetime won’t be back again
Now is the time, for me to stand
Here is my chance, that’s why i

11 September 2010

If there are two things which I can say are missing from my life right now, they would have to be 1) a boyfriend; 2) the motivation to lose weight. Hahaha! Seriously, eversince I can remember, I’ve always been on the “healthy” side. However, I was able to manage my weight before. But lately, it seems that no matter how hard I try, I can’t shake those extra bulges off. Don’t get me wrong, though. I am single and not even committed not because of my weight. I’ve actually just gotten out of a doomed relationship. I don’t really have any qualms about my weight. It’s just that I know that as I get older, it would be hard for me to live a healthy life if I weigh more than I’m supposed to. So I want to lose weight for myself and not because I want to hook up with a guy anytime soon.

Besides, a lean and sexy body is not enough guarantee for a man and a woman to find the loves of their lives. I know that there are fit and sexy singles out there who are also wishing to find their one true love otherwise, those fitness singles websites wouldn’t have been launched. A fitness singles website is a great place for fit and sexy singles to connect with single men and women who share the same interests as them. So if you are single, fit and sexy but currently unattached, you might want to try the site out and see if it works for you.

Now I wonder when healthy singles website will be launched.

10 September 2010

Why am I excited? No particular reason, really. I can't say it's the last day of work for this week and I am looking forward to the weekend. I can't because that's not the case with me. I work almost 7 days a week.

I guess I'm just happy because it means that another week has ended and we're already towards the middle of September. In less than 4 weeks my parents will be home already! Apart from the goodie boxes they'll be bringing, I'm excited for a number of reasons.

1) This is the first time they'll see my brother's son who's almost 4 years old.
2) This is the first time they'll see our new home.
3) This is the first time they'll be living under one roof with their one and only DIL.
4) I'd get to hug and kiss them again!

Oh, happy days!☺
