One of my good blogger friends, Ria of My Journey to Life, is about to hold her 1st online baby and blogging contest. It's her way of saying thanks for all the blessings and good things that are coming her (and her family's) way.

My Princess blog and this one are two of the many sponsors of the contest which will be commencing tomorrow, 1st February and will run until the 28th.

To find out more about Ria's contest, please click on the badge above. A lot of prizes are at stake so I hope you'll join the fun!☺

30 January 2010

It's almost February so this comes a little late. This is actually copied from an e-mail my dad sent me a few days ago, I'm thinking some of you have also received the same. I thought of posting it because I found it helpful, uplifting even.

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2009.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake.
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree..

Society:
25. Call your family often.
26.. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.. Stay in touch.

Life:
32. Do the right thing!
33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
34. GOD heals everything. - So very true!
35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up..
37. The best is yet to come.
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

It's amazing how much most of the stuff above are true, especially the items under LIFE. I really, really need those uplifting words right now.

I’m trying to grow my hair again after I cut it very, very short about a year and a half ago. From its length which nearly reached to my waist, I had it cut to just under my ears because I wanted to try a wash and wear hairstyle. For a year and half I never let my hair grow out. Not until late last year when I decided to grow it back again. So now I’m facing a dilemma because I gave away all my hair ornaments save for a barrette and 2 rubber bands. Good thing I found http://www.gladhair.com/. They have a wide range of clips, barrettes, clamps and even crystal studded hair pins which is great because I’m attending a formal party soon and I want to use the Swarovski Bobby Pins with Crystal Stones I found on the site. Goody goody!

27 January 2010

I feel awful today. I woke up with a runny nose and very itchy eyes. My eyes are so red you'd think I have sore eyes. I've been sneezing my heart out and I don't like it one bit.

I don't know what triggered my allergy today. Well, actually, my eyes have been itchy since last night. I could've handled that. But the runny nose? Awww! It's making me crabby. I'm not even in the mood to work. Ugh! That's so freakin' bad. I'm way behind schedule.

I've taken my antihistamines but they haven't taken effect yet. Oh please, please go away!

Can I just rant in here?

Oh! I'm just so terribly pissed. I contacted someone (whether or not he or she is a fellow blogger, I'm not going to say) since I learned he/she has this business and well, I wanted to find out if it was possible to order in bulk from him/her because I wanted to give the stuff away as prizes for my upcoming contest.

I sent a message early January but up to now I haven't gotten any response. I don't know if I should give him/her the benefit of doubt because I see him/her communicating with other people but it seems as if she or he has decided to snub me. I'm not asking for you to be a sponsor, for crying out loud! I've got the money to spend for your items. I just wanted to find out if it was possible for me to order, being that I'm from the Philippines and you're not and if I could order in bulk. Oh geez!

Fine! If that's the way you want it, I'll let you have your way. Just so you'll know, YOU JUST LOST A CUSTOMER!

A friend tagged me for this fun activity in Facebook. I thought it was crazy so I posted it here. Here goes:

RULE 1
You can only say Guilty or Innocent.

RULE 2
You are not allowed to explain anything unless someone pings you and asks!
(So people reading this, if you want an explanation.. comment.)

Now, here's what you're supposed to do... And please do not spoil the fun. Copy and paste this into your blogs , delete my answers, type in your answers and tag your friends to answer this. Then see what happens.

21 January 2010

I was having a terrible migraine attack the other night. I think my migraine attacks of late is being triggered by my poor eyes. I used to wear eyeglasses. I stopped wearing them, though, just because. LOL! Anyway, with the regular writing job I was able to commission through oDesk plus additional gigs for the same employer, I've been spending more time in front of the computer now than I did before. So I guess I need to have my eyes checked again. Perhaps I need to start wearing prescription glasses once more.

Now since my head felt like it was going to explode that particular evening, I decided to use the cooling headache patch my mom sent me. Since all of us (almost) in the family have migraine, my mom makes sure we're fully stacked with migraine remedies. Suffice it to say, the cooling patch relieved some of the tension although I must admit, I looked silly. Hahaha! Even my nephew thought I looked weird. Still, it wasn't enough to dampen my mood and I was still able to take some pictures, migraine and all.

Forgive me. My nephew and I have this habit of taking pictures of ourselves in our silliest modes!☺

Earlier on, I posted about the first seven people who pledged their sponsorship for my upcoming blog contest. I did so even if I didn't know yet what those good-hearted people will share.☺ (Disclaimer: I didn't do so so that there won't be any turning back for them.) Anyway, some of them have already told me what they're going to share.

Initially, I said that one of Cornyman's blogs, All About Babies and Kids will be a sponsor. Yesterday though, he said he's extending his sponsoship to his 3 other blogs! Isn't that great news? These are what he will be sponsoring:

Cornyman's Money Blog - 1,000 EC + 10 x Spikes from CMF Ads worth 1$ (250 visitors)
The One Minute Guide - 1,000 EC + 10 x Spikes from CMF Ads worth 1$ (250 visitors)
Cornyman's Blog Reviews - 2,000 EC credits
All About Babies and Kids - 2,000 EC credits

Thank you, thank you so much Cornyman!☺

20 January 2010

Hmmm. I feel as though it's been quite a while since I posted about the contest when in fact, it was just last Sunday. I've been pre-occupied with work that's why I can only squeeze in blogging, EC dropping and clicking Adgitize ads momentarily.

Anyway, since last Sunday, a couple more people pledged their support for the contest. They are:

Up Now and What's Next - 1 month 125x125 Ad space
Life Can't Wait - 1,000 EC credits

Thank you so much guys! Please spread the word, if you could. You're help will be greatly appreciated.☺

17 January 2010

Right after I posted the partial list of sponsors, I received an unexpected e-mail from someone pledging $5.00 for the upcoming contest. I'm not even sure if the person who sponsored the cash is a regular visitor of this blog. Nevertheless, I'm very thankful for the $5.00, which, incidentally, is already in my PayPal account.☺

Anyway, I just want to extend my deepest gratitude to Brisbane Hotels for sponsoring my upcoming blogversary contest. Rest assured that you will get proper credit for your generosity.☺

On this note, I'd like to say that contest sponsors will all get due credit for their unselfishness, as is common in all blog contests.☺

In our house, I’m the designated dish washer. It has been that way for almost 20 years already. Believe it or not, I enjoy dishwashing even if I do it the old fashioned way - manually. It is one chore I can do with a smile on my face. However, I have to admit that dishwashing can be a very taxing thing to do especially after you’ve had guests over for lunch or dinner. I should know because we recently had guests and after they’ve all gone home, I found myself with piles and piles of dirty dishware ready to be dealt with. Then there are days when manual dishwashing leaves me with practically no time to deal with other things.

That’s when I realized it’s high time we installed a dishwasher at home. Good thing I learned about Semi Integrated Dishwasher. It’s where people can get the best deals, discounts and prices on semi integrated dishwashers. That’s great news for me. Now I just need to browse through the site to find the dishwasher that would fit perfectly in my kitchen.

So if you are having problems dealing with tons of dirty dishes too, head on over to Semi Integrated Dishwasher to find the best deals on dishwashers.

16 January 2010

My parents recently sent us goody boxes from the USA. Of course, since mom knows I'm a chocoholic, she included several packs of chocolates. Among the chocolates she sent were the following:

Lindt Fioretto

Ghirardelli Luxe Milk Hazelnut

Both chocolates contained nuts, hazelnuts specifically and since both tasted like Ferrero Rocher, I feasted on them. Of course, I still ate the chocolates in moderation. By saying in moderation I mean that I limited myself to 2-3 pieces each time. However, I noticed that after eating that much, I started having trouble breathing and I started wheezing. Sort of like an asthma attack. I should know because I'm asthmatic. I also started getting palpitations and believe me, it wasn't a good feeling.

So I started thinking, could I be allergic to nuts? I sure hope not. Especially after I read an online journal discussing Anaphylaxis. It said that it was a rapid allergic reaction which could lead to death and that it was often triggered by food intake and, yes you guessed it right, chocholates AND nuts are included in the list. Oh please. Torture!

15 January 2010

Last 12th January, I received the GotHeart 2010 Planner which I won from Vera's giveaway.☺ Well actually, according to Vera, the courier was having trouble locating my humble abode so they had to get a hold of my mobile number so they can ask me personally for directions.

They called me up around 11:30 in the evening of 11th January and the girl on the other end was very apologetic but I understood where she was coming from so I gave her a detailed direction, with fingers crossed.

Anyway, around 7 in the evening the following day, it was finally delivered to me. Here's a snapshot of one of the many paintings inside:

I so love this planner.☺ At the bottom of every other page, you'll find a proverb or saying  from one of the tribes. You also learn a little something about the tribes featured here because there are facts and trivia along the way.

Thanks again Vera!☺

So if you want me to visit your blog(s) and if you want some linky love, please feel free to grab my badge and leave a comment so I can grab your badge, if it isn't here yet.☺

More people have pledged their support for the contest and dig this...I now have a cash sponsor 2 cash sponsors! Oh goody! Actually, a third person pledged $5.00 but when she shot me an e-mail, she didn't mention her blog URL. I sent her an e-mail asking for her URL so I can include it in the list. To all of those mentioned above, my heartfelt gratitude.☺

12 January 2010

Okay, okay. This isn't really a shoutout. It's more of an announcement. LOL! Fine, call it whatever you want to call it then.☺

This is in connection with my ongoing campaign to shamelessly beg for contest sponsors. Some people have already pledged EC credits and ad spots. No cash sponsors yet, though. I've not actually asked my blogger friends to pledge cash for this contest. I mean if some would be kind enough to spare some cash, well and good. But if not, that's fine with me.☺

Anyway, I was able to contact a friend of mine and she's already provided me with the price list for her products. So let me just say that aside from those mentioned above, some health and beauty products are also in the roster of prizes. These are organic products so they're healthy to use.☺

If I can get my hands on several other stuff, I just might add some more to the list of possible prizes. Well, this is just to update you all. Thanks again to those who have unselfishly pledged their support for this contest that I'm cooking up.

11 January 2010

I recently watched a film on DVD entitled "The Box". I guess many of you have seen it already. It was release in the USA last November and it stars Cameron Diaz (Norma Lewis), James Marsden (Arthur Lewis) and Frank Langella (Arlington Steward).

The movie is about a suburban couple with a child who wakes up one morning to discover a small package at their doorstep. They open the package to find a small, wooden box with a button on top and there was a note saying someone would call on them that same evening to discuss what the box was about.

When Arlington Steward pays a visit that same evening, he tells Norma that she and her husband can become $1 million richer by simply pressing the button on the box. However, doing so would lead to irrevocable consequences since somewhere in the world, someone they don't know would die. The couple decide to press the button, they get the million bucks and someone dies. But what follows is the couple's constant struggle with their moral dilemma.

Although the film was part science-fiction, suspense and mystery, I liked it because of the lesson it imparted. The movie itself tests the true nature of a person's humanity. It also tries to impart a strong lesson about greed and materialism. The way I understood the film to be, it was like trying to show all of us the possible consequences, not necessarily of reaching for our dreams, but lacking contentment in life.

Incidentally, the movie was based on Richard Matheson's short story, "Buttons, Buttons" which also was the basis for a Twilight Zone episode in 1985.

09 January 2010

This is a long overdue post. I even missed posting this for November. I've had a lot going that's why I'm like constantly walking on a tight-rope. Anyway, I'm sorry if I wasn't able to post this sooner.

I just want to thank my loyal EC droppers for always taking the time out to drop a card each month.Your efforts are greatly appreciated.☺

A few months back, I bought myself a BlackBerry Curve 8900 and although it’s such an amazing smartphone, I realized it needed a make-over. I bought for it a silicone case but it still looked drab and it lacked personality.

Good thing I found out that I can now order personalized Apple & BlackBerry cases for just $5.00 and dig this, the item will be shipped FREE OF CHARGE! Isn’t that great?

What I like about the personalized case was that the backside of the silicone cases for BlackBerry phones can even be engraved with both a logo two lines of text which can be up to 20 characters each. So I’m definitely planning on having one engraved with my name. It doesn’t even cost extra to have those engraved. Best of all, the cases come in fabulous colors, including purple so now I really am sure what I’m going to order. Also, they offer a fast turnaround time of 1-3 business days with no setup costs and no minimum order quantity so I’m not going to wait long. The case is also perfect to give away as gifts.

There are plenty more personalized items being offered by Pexagon like thumb drives, portable hard drives, pens and more. So go check out their site now and order your own personalized iPhone or BlackBerry case now.

I guess my shameless begging campaign, although I haven't launched it full blast yet, is starting to pay off.☺

I am happy ecstatic to announce that three more people have pledged their support for the contest either by sponsoring ad spots, EC credits and even (drumroll please!) a photobook! Who are these kind-hearted people? They are Maggie of The Snoring Queen, Gene of Gene + Experiments and Ms. Marie of Travelin' with Marie.

Thanks so much guys! I'm just a tad busy right now so I haven't had the time to make a complete list of those who have given their word and I've yet to contact those who will sponsor the contest to ask them what they can share with the participants. I'm also trying to contact a friend of mine who has a business because I am quite positive the products she's selling will make great prizes. Liezl of BHO suggested that I give other forms of prizes other than the more common EC credits and ad spots and she's right. I was really going to give away other forms of prizes which is another reason why it's taking me too long to finalize the contest details.

Anyway, this is just a quickie post. I still have an article to finish and I just dropped by to pay some linky love to my sponsors.☺
