28 February 2010

I love music. I can go without television but not music. I guess my love for music was reinforced as I was growing up. My dad had a wide collection of CDs and when we're not watching movies or TV shows, we were listening to music. Love for musci is something I never outgrew. Now I'm only thankful that finding my favorite songs has become very easy. Whereas before, I'd have to wait for my favorite songs to be played on the radio or I'd have to save money to buy CDs, now all I need to do is download songs from the internet.

I must admit, though, that thinking of great songs to download is not an easy feat. With thousands of songs available, it's hard to choose from among them. But to make my downloading easier, I always use an MP3 Search Engine. There's no better way to look for my favorites songs than by using a search engine. If I can't remember the title of the song, I can easily search for it using a singer's name or vice versa. That simple. Thank goodness for MP3 Search Engine. Oh well, I have to go now. I still need to get back to the songs I'm downloading so I can start listening to them.

I was awarded the Sunshine Award by The Twitterer.☺ She actually honored me with two awards. This one and you can find the other one here. As always, I'm privileged to receive awards such as this one. It only inspires me to continue filling up my blog with my thoughts to somehow share my life with my blogger friends and probably with the whole blogosphere.☺ The rules for passing this award is fairly simple. Here goes:

Rules:

1. Put the logo on your blog or within your post;
2. Pass the award onto 12 bloggers;
3. Link the nominees within your post;
4. Let the nominees know they have won the award by commenting on their blog;
5. Share the love and link to the person from whom you received the award.

I've posted the logo and thanked The Twitterer so now, I'm passing the award to these wonderful bloggers:
  1. Joy-Anne of From this Side
  2. Chris of The Mommy Journey
  3. Ria of My Journey to Life
  4. Vera of Where the Moon Shines
  5. Levy of Living Life to the Fullest
  6. Gene of Gene + Experiments
  7. Liza of Liza's Online Journal
  8. Marice of Life Can't Wait
  9. Red of Earn Money Online with Red
  10. Paula of Happy Thoughts, Happy Tot
  11. Czaroma of A Woman Remembers
  12. Jade of Momma Wannabe
You all deserve this award because your posts never fail to brighten up my day.☺

My daddy sent this to me. He didn't have to tell me why he had to send it to me. I just knew and felt why he had to. I'm the youngest in a brood of three and although I have an older sister, I know and I can feel that I'll forever be my daddy's little girl. Some may scoff at the idea of being called such. Me? Heck, it's an honor for me. I'll forever be grateful and proud for being my daddy's little girl.☺

TO MY CHILD

Just for this morning, I am going to
smile when I see your face and laugh
when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you
choose what you want to wear,
and smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, I am going to step
over the laundry and pick you up and take you to
the park to play.
Just for this morning, I will leave the
dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how to put
that puzzle of yours together.
Just for this afternoon, I will unplug
the telephone and keep the computer off, and sit with
you in the backyard and blow bubbles.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell
once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and
whine for the ice cream truck, and I will buy you one
if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry
about what you are going to be when you grow up, or
second guess every decision I have made where you are
concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you
help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you
trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take us
to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can
have both toys.
Just for this evening, I will hold you in
my arms and tell you a story about how you were
born and how much I love you.
Just for this evening, I will let you
splash in the tub and not get angry.
Just for this evening, I will let you
stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle
beside you for hours, and miss my favourite TV shows.
Just for this evening when I run my
finger through your hair as you pray, I will simply be
grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given.
I will think about the mothers and
fathers who are searching for their missing children, the
mothers and fathers who are visiting their children's
graves instead of their bedrooms. The mothers
and fathers who are in hospital rooms
watching their children suffer senselessly and screaming
inside that little body
And when I kiss you goodnight I will hold
you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then,
that I will thank God for you, and ask him for

nothing, except one more day...............

26 February 2010

Almost every night is a DVD night here at home. All of us, including almost 3-year old Keoni, love to watch movies. A few nights ago, we watched this Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson movie, The Tooth Fairy. I've been a fan of The Rock even when he was working as a pro wrestler. Yes, I love watching WWE, no matter how scripted the whole thing is.

Anyway, the Tooth Fairy is a very light and funny movie. Or maybe it's just very easy to please me that's why I enjoyed the film.

The Tooth Fairy is about a minor league hockey player, Derek Thompson, who earned the moniker "Tooth Fairy" for his penchant of separating his opponents' bicuspids or premolar teeth. He has a girlfriend, played by Ashley Judd, who has two kids and one night, Derek baby sat for his girlfriend's young girl. That same night, the young girl lost her tooth so she was expecting money from the Tooth Fairy. Derek, however, discourages the young girl and almost told her the truth, that Tooth Fairies don't exist. Because of this near-slip, Derek received a summons late one night from Tooth Fairyland. He was transported to Tooth Fairyland complete with the requisite wings, tutu and magic wand.

Derek then receives the news from the head of Tooth Fairyland, played by Julie Andrews, that he has been sentenced to almost two weeks' hard labor as a real Tooth Fairy as his punishment for being such a dream crusher. Derek's struggles as he tries to train as a tooth fairy follows suit and in the course of his slow adaptation to his new role, he starts to rediscover his own forgotten dreams.

It's a feel good movie, although not in the "chick flick" sense. It's a great film to watch with your kids. Or like me, if you're a kid at heart, you'll enjoy this film.☺

The mimic bands the keyword opposite the given earth.

My blog contest will commence soon!☺

March is just a few days away so that means contest mechanics and details will be up pretty soon. I'm still low on cash (for the prizes) but sponsorship is still open. If I don't get enough cash prizes, I'd make up for it using other cool stuff.

I'm just loaded with work that's why I still haven't worked up a post about the mechanics but they're all in my head. ;-)

I got this one from Red, one of the few bloggers who never fails to remember me whenever she receives awards or tags.☺ I was also tagged for this award by The Twitterer, a blog I recently stumbled upon and I've been a regular visitor eversince. She's also a Filipina who's living abroad. Karen of My So-Called World also tagged me for this award, incidentally.☺

I'm supposed to pass this on to other bloggers who are beautiful both inside and out, I'm assuming, but here are a few rules I must follow:

1. Thank & link the person that gave you the award. So once again, thank you Red and The Twitterer, for the honor.☺

2. Pass this award onto 15 bloggers you’ve recently discovered and think are
fantastic.

3. Contact said Blogs and let them know they’ve won.

4. State 7 things about yourself

My Beautiful 15 are:

1. Joy-Anne
2. Kikamz
3. Ria
4. Bambie fab
5. Paula
6. Levy
7. Marie
8. Niko
9. Gene
10. Marice
11. Liezl
12. Shaine
13. Liza
14. Czaroma
15. Fedhz

Whew! Quite a handful but I'm telling you, the above bloggers are wonderful. I always enjoy visiting their blogs and reading their posts.

Seven random things about me...okay...here goes:

1. I don't know how to ride the bike. It seems weird that I should list it here but it's something about me which most friends don't know.

2. I'm scared of cats. Cats scare me more than dogs do. I blame that on Stephen King's Sleepwalkers.

3. People, especially those who've just met me, think that I'm a snob but I'm not. I'm actually just a shy girl who's afraid of rejection so I tend to keep to myself at first for fear that others won't accept my hand of friendship. But once I warm up to you, you'd think otherwise.

4. People say I'm mataray. I don't think it's being mataray. I think it's part of my defense mechanism, something to show others that they can't take me lightly and I'm not someone they can just put aside and downplay.

5. My first taste of freedom (read partial independence from my parents) came when I was 27 years old. Can you believe that?

6. I'm turning 33 in a couple of days but I still think I'm missing an important element in my life. Honestly, I don't know what it is.

7. I was held up by a guy who was pointing a balisong at me and he took my cell phone. No one tried to help me (I was riding the bus) so I screamed and screamed as loudly as possible. Guess what? The hold-upper returned the cell phone to me.☺

I don't know if I did the right thing as far as sharing 7 random things about me are concerned. But I deemed it best to share some things not most people know about me.☺

19 February 2010

I am no SAHM or WAHM. At almost 33, I'm still happily single but I do work from home as a freelance writer. At the same time I maintain 2 blogs and take care of my 3-year old nephew (while playing Facebook games and doing other online stuff on the side). I can definitely say I've got my hands full.

You can just imagine how much I try to put my multi-tasking skills to the hilt because of all the online activities I do. I write, I blog hop and look for bloggers who'd be willing to exchange links with me. Great thing BC Bloggers' Secret was conjured. It's a new community to help bloggers gain readership (and traffic) to their blog - a LINK EXCHANGE network.

If you want to learn more about it, please do visit Mommy Diary.

18 February 2010

I've been thinking of getting eyeglasses for myself because I've noticed that my eyes tire easily even if I've spent only a few hours in front of the computer. Plus, there's the constant migraine attacks which I'm assuming is because of my slightly impaired vision. However, I do know that prescription eyeglasses can be quite expensive. So, as silly as it sounds, I've sort of been putting off getting eyeglasses for myself. But then, I learned about Zenni Optical. Zenni Optical, as the name suggests, is a shop where you can find fashionable and stylish prescription eyeglasses at very affordable prices. They have their own factories which produce their own brand of eyeglasses that's why they're able to sell them at very cheap prices. I was wary at first but after I read the article Mr. Eric Hammer wrote for Examiner entitled Cheap Eyeglassses are a Reality, I realized that indeed, it is possible to get prescription eyeglasses at prices that will blow you away. Mr. Hammer has been patronizing Zenni Optical's eyeglasses for the past 8 years and he only has good words for the company.

The prices of their products range from $8.00 to $40.00, plus additional charges if you want bi-focals or thick lenses. They add an extra $4.95 for the shipment but that amount applies no matter how many pairs you order. So if you want high quality eyeglasses which are not fashionable and durable but also very affordable, get yours from Zenni Optical.

Meet Darren Shan. He's 16 going on immortal.

That's the catchphrase of the movie Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. This movie is based on the 12-book series by Darren Shan (yes, the author named the movie's protagonist after himself). It tells the tale of an ordinary teenager who decided to throw caution to the wind and watch a freak show with his bestfriend. Unbeknown to him, the final act of the sideshow, Mr. Crepsley (brilliantly played by John C. Reilly), was actually a vampire. Mr. Crepsley's show involved a huge spider named Octa and since Darren was obsessed with spiders, he was mesmerized by the red & blue spider so he decides to steal it.

Things take a turn for the worse when his bestfriend Steve got bit by the spider and only Mr. Crepsley had the antidote. Darren goes to Mr. Crepsley but the latter made a deal with him: he would give Steve the antidote but Darren has to agree to be a "half vampire" and become Mr. Crepsley's assistant. Darren agrees to this but the thing is, it was his bestfriend Steve who dreamed and actually wanted to be turned into a vampire.

Anyhow, Darren becomes Mr. Crepsley's assistant and starts to live with the freaks. Steve, on the other hand, became envious and decided to join a vampire faction known as the Vampaneze. Simply put, Mr. Crepsley and Darren belonged to that vampire faction which didn't have an evil purpose in life. Meaning to say, they sip human's blood without the intention of killing. On the other hand, the Vampaneze were the type of vampires who killed to eat. The entry of Darren and Steve to the two factions signaled the end of the truce between the two factions and the start of an immense war.

I'm thinking this movie will be sort of like the Harry Potter series since they didn't compress the entire 12-book series into one film. I'm already eagerly anticipating the next installment. I can't believe how these vampire movies that have sprouted like mushrooms left and right can give insightful details about vampires. There always seems to be something new that could be learned about these fanged beings.☺

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of ArticlesZoom.org. All opinions are 100% mine.

Although I only started working as a full-time Freelance Writer in 2007, I’ve been writing stories and articles for more than 2 decades already. So you can just imagine the reams of articles I’ve accumulated over the years. That was one reason why I was looking for a website where I can submit my articles for free. Good thing I came across Articles Zoom. It’s a free general article directory which allows its members to submit their articles, originally written of course, to the whole world.

Logo

Articles Zoom has a diverse assortment of categories from Arts and Entertainment to Computers, Technology and Gadgets or Fashion to Environment Issues. So whatever niche you’re writing for, you can definitely submit your articles to the site. What’s more, a writer has nothing to lose by joining the site because article submissions are free. In fact, by submitting articles to Articles Zoom, a writer can even increase backlinks and drive traffic to his own site. Their submission guidelines are very simple. All they need are originally written articles which are 200 words or more, free from grammatical errors and are placed under the correct category. Another thing I like about it is that I can use my smartphone to access their website so I can write articles on the go. Also, all articles submitted and approved by Articles Zoom get promoted via twitter. There’s definitely nothing to lose and lots to gain by joining them.

I have already signed up for the site and can’t wait to start submitting my articles to them. I’ve already browsed the site and have taken note of the categories I can write under. I know that Articles Zoom would allow me to be as creative as I can be with my writing and since they have a lot of categories, I can definitely write an article that a lot of readers can relate to, whatever a reader’s interest may be. So if you’re looking for an article directory site, try browsing Articles Zoom.

10 February 2010

Didn't we all, at one point or another in our lives, dreamed to become a famous "something"? I know I wanted to be a famous writer when I was growing up. Well, I did become a writer. But I must admit I'm still eons aways from being famous. Be that as it may, my writing skills have been adequate enough to land me a decent paying homebased job.

I'm sure lots of you, especially those from younger generations, are still trying to find your niches in this world. That's not very much hard to do especially now that there are websites which help you become what you want to be. One such site offers a vast directory of articles dedicated to various careers. So if you want to learn something about a particular career, you can always visit this site. Or if you have an interesting career, you may even Submit Your Own Careers Articles and help others find their place in this world.☺

This is just a quick post to say that I've not forgotten about blogging yet. I was out for a family reunion last Saturday and unfortunately, I may have eaten something there that didn't sit well in my tummy. My tummy has been upset since yesterday.=(

It was so upset that I even had a slight fever last night and I was chilling even if I was wrapped snugly in my fleece blanket. My tummy's still pretty much "chaotic" right now but I just had to quickly drop in for this post.

I just hope I'd feel better tomorrow.

Hi guys! Just want to say sorry in advance since I won't be able to visit your blogs tomorrow. We're having a family reunion since one of my nieces (cousin's daughter)arrived from Guam the other day for a short vacay.

The reunion will be held in Cavite. It's set for lunch but I still don't know up to what time I'll be staying there. Anyway, I'm super excited because it's been a while since my cousins and I last saw each other. I think the last time we were together was last June.

If I get home early, I'll try to do a little blog hopping. If not, let me just wish you all a happy weekend!☺

Last Monday evening all four of us (myself, my brother, my SIL and their 3-year old son) watched Daybreakers on DVD. It was a suspense-thriller starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill. It was a vampire movie so I was hooked from the get-go.

The premise was something foreign, to me at least. It was set in the year 2019 and during that time about 90% of the earth's population have already been turned into vampires and since the last remaining humans were diminishing fast, the vampires are about to face their biggest fear: BLOOD SHORTAGE. So they tried "farming" the humans that they already have in their possession while a vampire-cum-hematologist, portrayed by Ethan Hawke, was trying to come up with an able substitute for blood to meet the vampires' needs. Otherwise, if the vampires suffer from blood deprivation, they will evolve into wild, vicious creatures that would attack anyone and anything, fellow vampires included, in order to survive.

Incidentally, Ethan Hawke's character is sympathetic to humans since he was turned into a vampire against his will that's why he's trying to conjure a plan to find a blood substitute to alleviate the chances of humans falling prey to vampires. However, in Ethan's quest to find the perfect blood substitute, he stumbles upon something which was better than any blood substitute he can create - a chance to become HUMAN again.

The unusual plot got me focused on the story. Plus, I love Ethan Hawke so...and it was funny because even my 3-year old nephew was watching and he obviously could folow the story because he was asking questions. We can't force him to sleep because he loves watching scary movies.☺

I'm not sure if it's already been shown here in the Philippines. I'm not even sure if others who saw the film liked it, too. But I did that's why I thought of sharing it with the readers of this blog.☺
