That One Mom

30 August 2010

Michael Jackson would've turned 52 yesterday. If only. So as a way of paying tribute to him, I decided to use one of my favorite MJ songs for this week's Music Monday. Enjoy!

Cheers to all of us thieves!

21. If you were to live your life without your best friend, what would change? - I would be less happier.

22. Tell us about a era of your life that you really miss. - God...my childhood! No pain, no worries. What I wouldn't give to relive that time again.

23. Have you ever been betrayed by someone that came as a complete surprise? Without revealing the person, if yes, tell us about it. - Never. I somehow sense when someone who's a part of my life is turning into a total DB. So I seldom get caught by surprise.

24. Do you ever think that is a good idea to hide your feelings? - Nah. Bottling up feelings only wounds your heart and mind and injures your spirit.

25. Tell us about your favorite year when you were a student. - Gosh. I can't think of a particular year. I simply enjoyed my years as a student and I can't single out one.

25. When was the last time you were in a very good mood? What caused it? - Last month, I think. My sister. Let's just say she got me something I've wanted for so long and I never even told her about it. I guess our brainwaves are sorta connected in some way.

26. Have you ever had a romantic relationship with a sibling of a good friend? - Never.

27. Tell us about the last thing that you did that you truly regret. - Hooking up with my EX. LOL!☺

28. When did you laughed today? - It was my nephew. He was singing TIK TOK and, well, he's 3 so he couldn't really get the words right although his tone was right. But he was dancing while singing and he looked so confident and I found it funny and cute at the same time.

29. Do you trust easily? - Unfortunately, yes.

30. What do you care about that you wish more people would? - Uhm...geez. I feel like a Miss U contestant. Should I say world peace?

31. Is it easier for you to go without food or go without sleep? - Without sleep.

32. What non-alcohol beverage do you enjoy drinking the most? - Coke of course!

33. When you walk into a room full of strangers, generally how is your confidence? - Very high! I mean they don't know me and I don't know them so why the heck should I bother, right? Might as well pretend they're not there at all and just pretend I'm in my own room where I am queen.

34. Does talking about sex with anyone but your lover make you uncomfortable? - I don't talk about it with anyone but my lover. That is, supposing I had one.

35. Do you tend to believe members of the opposite sex mostly behave the same way? - No. I learned that it's wrong to generalize.

36. Did you drink any alcohol this week? If yes, what? - Nope.

37. Would you ever consider being a vegetarian? - Yes!

38. Do you believe that there’s always room in your heart for someone? - Of course.

39. Do you believe in the concept of soul mates? - I used to. But I still haven't found mine. So I'm having second thoughts. LOL!

40. Last week, we had a few players criticize our victim’s questions. Which is fine to do and we value your opinion. Would you ever consider writing questions for Bud and me to post on a Sunday Stealing? - If you guys ask for it...why not?

28 August 2010

1. Who was the last person you dealt with that felt that they could never be wrong? - My EX!

2. Tell us about one person who is the most like you. - Hmm. I guess my mom. We're both feisty and we're both fighters.

3. What is something you really want right now? - Peace of mind.

4. What are you doing this weekend? - Work and work some more. Bummer!

5. Are you in a good mood? If yes, Why? - A little. It's almost September which means holiday sales are in the offing!

6. Do you have an ex that you are pretty sure thinks about you a lot? - Oh yes!

7. What's one thing you wish you could do but can't? - Be with my sister.

8. What's one trait you hate in a person? - Just one? Arrogance.

9. What's one thing you like to do alone? - Contemplate on life.

27 August 2010

1. You do your thing; I do mine and sometimes we can just compromise.

2. My impending "new work" is what's been on my mind on and off all day.

3. Remember when life was a lot less complicated.

4. The color purple, foot spas and to-die for scents are three of my favorite obsessions :-)

5. During the last year I started taking my freelance writing more seriously.

6. My nephew puts a smile on my face.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a good movie, tomorrow my plans include chillaxing and Sunday, I want to eat out!

Of all the American Idol seasons, it was the season in which David Cook joined that I watched the show from the start of the auditions to the finale. I was rooting for David Cook to win and I'm just so glad he did. Here's his victory song. Enjoy!

22 August 2010

Cheers to all of us thieves!

1. Are you happier now than you were five months ago? - Yes.☺

2. Have you ever slept in the same bed with anyone that you shouldn't have? - Yes!

3. Can you sleep in total darkness? - I love sleeping in total darkness.

4. Your phone is ringing. It’s the person you fell hardest for, the one who got away, what do you say? - Oh my. I'd probably be speechless the first few minutes. I'll just listen to his voice and savor the moment.

5. What do you think about the weather this summer? - It's summer there in the US but here in the Philippines, the rainy season is making its presence felt already...so...

6. How many people do you trust with everything? - This may sound odd but I don't trust anybody with everything. It's too risky. I think you can never share everything about you 100% to anyone other than yourself. Heck, even I don't trust myself sometimes.

7. What was the last thing you drank? - Coke.

8. Is there anyone you want to come see you? - Yes. My sister. I haven't seen here in almost 6 years.

9. Name one thing you love about winter? - Winter means Christmas is just around the corner - shopping and lots and lots of Christmas sales!

10. Have you ever dated a Goth? - Not yet, thank God.

11. What are you looking forward to tomorrow? - Getting my job done early and just lazing the rest of the day away.

12. Name something you dislike about the day you’re having? - My rhinitis decided to act up today.

13. What's the longest that you have committed to one person and one person only? - 3 years and 4 months.

14. What’s the first thing you did when you opened your eyes today? - Wiped my tears away. I had a bad dream and I woke up crying.

15. Has anyone ever told you they never want to ever lose you? - They all did. Unfortunately, they didn't stick to their end of the bargain.

16. Is there anybody that you wish you could fix your relationship with? - None. Once I leave, I stay away.

17. Could you go out in public, looking like you do now? - No!

18. Do you think things will change in the next 3 months? How? - Yes. For one, my parents who've ben away for almost 6 years are coming home in October. So from being semi-independent, my brother and I are going to be semi-dependent to our parents again.

19. Do you believe that you never know what you got until you lose it? - Yes.

20. Do you have a friend of the opposite sex you can talk to? - I wish I did.

21 August 2010

1. Where were you the last time that someone welcomed you back? - Online, chatting with my sister. I had to go pee so I told her I'd be right back. When I came back she told me, "Welcome back."

2. Tell us who is you favorite non-family member to hang out with? - My close friend Jackie. She used to be my officemate. We are so different yet we jive so well.

3. What was the last thing that happened to anger you? - I was cheated on.

4. What was the last thing that you saw that was shocking to see? - A rat in our garage!

5. What is your favorite thing to do on Saturday besides Saturday 9? - Sleep!

6. Have you had your summer vacation yet? If yes tell us about it. - I rarely go on vacations. =(

7. Pick out one of your cousins and tell us about them. - Her name is Shelah. I consider her my bestest friend in the world. She's 2 years older than I am and she treats me like a young kid until now. I feel protected when I'm with her.

8. Do you have any special plans for next week? - Clean my room. Is that special?

9. At what age will you consider yourself old and why? - I will never consider myself old. I'll always be young at heart. I believe when I start feeling old, all else will follow and I'll lose my drive to live a happy life.

20 August 2010

Hmm. It's been a while since I last updated this blog. I've been busy with work and I can barely squeez in blogging and blog hopping. =(

Anyway, here's my FFI entry:

1. Laughter makes our hearts healthier. (obviously, I made that up.)

2. "Sending the articles" are the three words that started off the last email I sent.

3. What I'm most looking forward to today is meeting all my deadlines so I wouldn't have to cram!

4. Seeing my nephew puts a smile on my face.

5. Where in the world can I find HIM?

6. This Cafe Mocha I'm drinking right now is just what I needed!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to chatting with my sister, tomorrow my plans include doing my laundry and Sunday, I want to treat myself to a nice "solo" dinner!

16 August 2010

This post is late, obviously. Please pardon my lateness. Just had to deal with too many stuff. Anyway, here goes...

Cheers to all of us thieves!

26. What do you normally smell like? - The bath gel I'm using smells of pomegranate with mango infusions. But after every bath or shower, I spritz on a cologne from BBW and the scent is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. So I guess that's how I smell like.

27. Do you like Carrie Underwood? - She's a good singer but I'm not a fan.

28. Been to “The Vegas”? - Yes. But I was too young to enjoy it. I was 9 I think.

29. How far away do you live from your parents? - Thousands of miles apart.☺ They live in the USA and I'm here in the Philippines. But they're coming home soon.

30. Are you happy with your job? - Yes, definitely.

31. Where do you work and what do you do there? - I work from home as a freelance writer.

32. What did you get in the mail today? - Nothing. I rarely get anything in the mail.

33. How do you like your steak cooked? - Medium well. ☺

34. Britney Spears…is she back? - Back down the drain.

35. What do you usually order at Taco Bell? - I love their burritos, quesadillas and cheesy gordita crunch.

36. Have you ever sat all the way through Gone With the Wind? - Yes. Twice.

37. Have you ever been to Mt Rushmore? - No. But it's in my wishlist or bucketlist or whatever list you'd want to call it.

38. Is it just me, or was The Marine (w/John Cena) a really horrible movie? - It was horrible. But I love John Cena.

39. Are surveys like the cocaine of myspace? - I think so.

43. Do you smoke cigarettes? - No.

45. How many states have you been to where all you saw was the airport? - I've been to three states but I barely even remember their airports.

46. Do you think 50 questions is enough? - I guess. It can be longer. But then there'd be part 3. Or maybe even a part 4. The parts can go on and on.

47. Are you currently planning a trip? - No.☺

48. Is Ryan Seacrest gay? Should anyone care? - I don't think so and no, we all couldn't care less.

49. Do you take anti-depressants? Sleeping pills - I used to take sleeping pills. They never worked.

50. What do you think about space travel? - I'd love to try it.

This is one of my favorite songs and when I heard this unplugged version, I fell in love with the song even more. Enjoy! Happy MM!

15 August 2010

It's late but I just had to write this quick post because I need to clear my mind for a bit. I've been loaded these past few days and just when I thought things were going smoothly, something happened which annoyed me big time. Argh. By the way, let me end this post by sharing a good news (at least for me). My parents flight back home is confirmed! They're arriving on October 4th, 5:55am. I'm so excited!

10 August 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

More often than not, old age and disability prevent people from totally enjoying their lives. These hinder them from spending quality time with their families and going on much-needed vacations because moving from one place to another doesn’t come easy. If you have family members who have disabilities or are advanced in age, you probably know what I’m talking about.

Believe it or not, there is a non-profit trade association called NMEDA which gives consumers the heads up when it comes to purchasing products from NMEDA qualified dealers. They don’t sell anything but what they do is promote safe driving and equipment for people with disabilities. NMEDA stands for National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association. They have dealers who are in charge of selling handicap van and vehicle modifications for people with disabilities.

NMEDA actually has 2 groups of dealers – the ordinary dealers and the Quality Assurance Program or QAP dealers. Although both provide customized vehicle solutions to fit the lifestyle and needs of disabled people, what sets them apart is that the QAP is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It adheres to the principle that in order to consistently meet and satisfy the needs and demands of customers, it must have a systematic and documented approach to quality.

Caregivers have tough jobs so if you know anyone who works as one tell him how he would benefit from talking to a qualified NMEDA dealer.

A NMEDA dealer would safely show the way back to the road for independence to the elderly and people with disabilities.

If you know anyone who might be in need of the assistance of NMEDA dealers, just visit their homepage, click on dealers’ locator and enter your zip code. You’ll immediately find a list of NMEDA dealers near you.

06 August 2010

I was so busy yesterday that I forgot to create a post for this blog. Really, as in. I received notifications for 2 interviews over at oDesk yesterday and I wasn't counting such a quick turnaround time for one of the potential clients. She just asked if I knew how to set up a blog at Wordpress and when I said yes, she hired me right away. Thanks for the blessing God!☺

The other client required me to turn in an article about "chili peppers", sort of a test article. I worked on that after setting up the 2 WP blogs and this morning, the client contacted me through IM and asked if I can start work tomorrow. Oh wow and the great thing about this other client is that he told me he might require me to set up a small team in the future so we can all work for him. Hmm. Sounds promising and this early, I already have my mind set on a few blogger friends who fit the bill.☺ So please pray with me on this one.☺

Anyhoot, I just stopped by for a quick hello. I am currently working on some articles for my other client and I need to turn them in before the end of this day.

Have a pleasant weekend everyone!☺

04 August 2010

I logged in to my favorite social networking site and I was busy browsing through the different pages when I chanced upon the profile page of one of my high school classmates. He’s now living in Madrid, Spain and is working as a graphic artist. Even when we were still in high school, he was the go-to guy when our class needed visual aids and stuff because he had good hands. Anyway, I was surprised to see some of his present works because they were great! I asked him if he has a lot of clients and he told me that most of his clients are friends. Outside of them, the rest of his clients are all referrals; either a friend of a friend or a relative of a friend. I told him to start giving out his artist business cards to people whether they are existing clients of him o not. I told him that his business card must at least showcase a glimpse of some of his works so that people would have a general idea about what he does and how good he is at it. I saw a photographer’s business card displayed online and although he didn’t say outright that he was a photographer, his business card which was laden with different types of cameras said it all and that was what I advised to my friend. Hopefully, he’ll take the hint and do the same.

02 August 2010

I long for the warmth
of my lover's embrace,
that tingling feeling
each time I touch his face.
The feel of his warm
skin right next to mine,
his smile that assures
me everything will be fine.

I long for the warmth
of his gentle caress,
his lips on mine...
Oh! Sheer sweetness!
Words of love
so softly spoken.
Promises uttered,
never to be broken.

I long for my lover
night and day.
Though distance separates us
our love will find a way.
When the clouds above
have no silver lining,
our love for each other
will come through shining.
