30 April 2010

As you all know, today is the last day of my blog contest. I can say that it was successful but I still owe the sponsors their much deserved blog reviews. I’d get to that in the coming weeks, scout’s honor. LOL!

All in all, there were 88 blogs entered. Those blogs were owned and managed by 35 people. Why am I saying this? Well, as I said from the get-go, the contest will be based on points. These are points accumulated through the various tasks involved. I posted a weekly update of the points so entrants can take a look-see as to how they were doing. What I generally did was to add up the points PER BLOG OWNER. So, let’s say Blogger A has 3 blogs, I’ll add all the points she acquired through her blogs and the sum total will be her number of points. Simple.

Now for the drawing, which I will be working on tomorrow or on Sunday, this is what I’m going to do:

1) All entrants who scored more than 1000 points will qualify for the drawing of the Grand Prize Winner.
2) All entrants who scored between 500 to 900 points qualify for the Second Prize drawing.
3) All other entrants (those who scored lower than 500 points) are entitled for the drawing of the Third Prize.

After I have figured out who the 3 winners are out of the 35 entrants (with a little help from RANDOM.ORG), the rest of the entrants, all 32 of them will get their due.

I decided to randomly choose the winners tomorrow to allow ample time for entrants to post their last minute entries (reviews, comments, etc.). The MCKLinky is now closed but if you still wish to enter a blog of yours, you may just leave a message through my contact form with a link to all the requirements you were able to accomplish. If you're only joining today, the last day of the contest, you can find the list of requirements HERE.

I still haven't gotten around to posting the prizes at stake. I'm reserving that for tomorrow. Nothing grand is up except for a blog makeover, make-up goodies, a GC to a digi-scrapbooking site and a 20-page photobook aside from cash, EC credits, AD spaces and Adgitize advertising.☺

Compared to a traditional credit card, using a prepaid credit card is easier and more convenient than ever before. In addition to being able to use your prepaid credit cards in any local store that accepts the Visa, MasterCard or American Express logo, you can also use it online without having to reveal any of your personal information over the Internet.

In addition to that, your prepaid credit card can now be used for direct deposit for your place of employment. Ask your boss about the correct forms to fill out, and once it has been processed, instead of getting a paper check, your money will be deposited directly to your prepaid credit card. This cuts down trips to the bank to cash your check, and it also makes it easier to pay your bills online. On top of that, your prepaid credit card can now be used for wire transfers. Instead of dealing with costly wire transfers, you can simply purchase a money pack anywhere in the state, and give the prepaid credit card number of the person who already has an existing card. The money will be instantly credited to their prepaid card, giving them the freedom to shop wherever they wish. It also prevents them from having to travel to a wire transfer location.

So now, not only is the prepaid credit card safer than carrying cash, it also has even more uses. Plus, with the prepaid credit card, you don’t have to be concerned about identity theft or someone else getting hold of your private and personal information. A prepaid credit card gives you the ability to pay your bills, shop online or at any store where the card is accepted, have your pay credited directly to the card, and execute wire transfers. Lets see if your traditional credit card can do that!

Hi guys! I wrote this because I wanted to condense all of the contest details and mechanics into one post so that all participants won’t have to go back and forth trying to verify if they’ve taken this step and that. Of course, the mechanics will still point to the exact post where the necessary steps are given.

Again, I want to reiterate that contest sponsors may join the contest. Also, you may enter your multiple blogs to the contest provided that you enter separate links on the MckLinky I created for the contest.

I also want to emphasize that only those who entered their links on the MckLinky will qualify. Even if you did all the other steps to gain points but you failed to enter your link there, your points/entries won’t be counted. The MckLinky links will serve as your main entry.

REQUIRED STEPS: (230+ points total)

• For these required steps, you can either display the Major and Secondary sponsors’ lists in one post or in separate posts.

1) To those who wish to join the contest, kindly go over the details in this post and enter the appropriate link in the MckLinky below the post.

2) Display the list of the Secondary Sponsors. (You can include the list in your main contest entry or include it in a separate post)

3) On this spreadsheet you will find the complete list of my sponsors. Choose at least 3 sponsors that you would like to write a blog review for. Each review you write will be equivalent to 10 points. Write your name on the field next to the blog you chose so other participants would know that a blog review has already been written for said blog. That way, we avoid duplicate reviews and all sponsors are given the due recognition they deserve.

* Please leave a comment on this post with the link to the blog review you have written so I can tally your points. Reviews need not be too lengthy. Just please make sure you link back to the blogs you're reviewing.☺

OPTIONAL STEPS:

• These steps are non-compulsory. You can do all or none at all, it doesn’t matter. Rest assured, though, that you will receive points for each step you undertake.

1) Go to this post to gain more points.

2) I love and I thrive on the comments you leave on my posts. So I’m going to check my blog posts from March 15th (the day when the contest started) onwards and if I see that you left a comment in any of my blog posts, I will award points to you – 1 point per comment.☺ No spams please. Each participant may leave a maximum of 5 comments per day.

3) This third optional requirement is tied to item number 3 of the REQUIRED STEPS. In the event that all the slots for the required sponsors' review have been filled up already and you, as a qualified participant, hasn't yet written any review, you may opt to review this blog OR my princess blog OR both.

For each of the steps you make, please leave a comment on the exact post where the detailed mechanics are given.

29 April 2010

Has this ever happened to you: you go to the bathroom all rearing to answer nature’s call and then you realize that the toilet paper has fallen off from its holder? Annoying right? That has happened to me several times in the past because most of the tissue paper holder being sold in some stores are mass produced and are not attentive to detail. Good thing I discovered a site that offers all kinds of dispensers, from label to toilet paper dispenser. You won’t get lost in the site because everything is properly categorized and each item is well explained and they even give tips on how to properly clean the dispensers. Pretty neat, huh? I’m definitely going back to that site to browse some more.

It's BMT again! I missed a couple of Thursdays because I was busy with work but now, I've got spare time on my hands so I decided to join the fun...again. But this is a late post.

March was tagged as Fire Prevention Month here in the Philippines and although it's almost the month of May, it goes without saying that families must still be ready for any untoward circumstance that may befall their houses and homes. That's one of the main reasons why I'm looking for cheap insurance quotes online because we're planning on having our house insured. We just recently bought our house and we still haven't gotten around to acquiring insurance for it. Of course, we don't want to give in to steep fees and quotes that's why I've been tasked to search the internet for cheap homeowners insurance quotes. I'd probably start with Top Cheap Insurance because I've gone over to the site and I saw how they emphasized that they really do offer the cheapes insurance quotes. It is a good place to start.

Remember when I said a that a MAJOR CHANGE was about to take place in this blog? Well, here it is! I'm rockin' a new template (to borrow the words of my über talented designer).

Have any idea who my blog designer extraordinaire is? I'm sure you do. If not, well, she's none other than Kaye. The brains behind Random Wahm Thoughts who moonlights as a blog designer. You should see her online portfolio at WAHMaholic Blog Designs. You would be impressed, BIG TIME!

She's such a dear and even installed the template herself. All I did was bug her every now on then on IM and take a peek at the work in progress...and then...VOILA! I am now the proud owner of an über purple, violet, lavender, whatever blog.☺

So, to those who know me (read: know what my favorite color in the world is), does my new template really, utterly scream ME? LOL!

Things were easier when we were younger because our parents were there to make decisions for us. But now that my siblings and I are all adults, our parents can only do so much as guide us but the decision making lies solely on our hands. One decision that my brother is trying to make right now is finding auto insurance quotes online. He needs it for our car because the current policy is about to expire and he doesn't know if he'd still renew with the company. They're fees are steep and before he does decide to renew with them, he wants to compare auto insurance quotes from other companies just to make sure he's getting the best deal. I'm actually trying to help him look for the best insurance websites that offer cheap quotes. What about you, is your car insured and are you happy with your insurance company?

This post is intended for a blog contest I'm joining (and hope to win). [Segueing to main purpose of this post...]

Have you guys heard about Makoy? You know, that Filipino guy who's currently working in Singapore. Most, if not all of his posts are really humorous and since it's so easy to tickle my funny bones, I always find myself either laughing or smiling after reading his posts. Currently, he's holding a blog contest aptly titled Humor Me Makoy Contest and this is actually my entry to the contest.

One particular post which I find funny is entitled Pinay Scandal in Singapore. The title is catchy so you'd really want to read it. But the contents are something else. For me the post is humorous because it shows just how naive some Filipinas can be. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to make fun of us Pinays. Heck, I am a proud Pinay. It's just that we sometimes do have the tendency to express ourselves in uncanny ways and sometimes, we forget to apply tact in our conversations. Think Kris Aquino. Riding in a bus and talking about our exploits is definitely a no-no, but the Pinay in question obviously didn't think so. Oh, and I learned a new word from that post: FUGLY. You do the math. LOL!

Now, do I have a funny story to share? Yes. A lot. But I'd be zeroing in on one funny and stupid episode in my life. This happened many years ago, just before my sister and her family left for the USA. She was going to buy some stuff to bring to the US so we went to Tutuban Mall in Divisoria. We were cruising along Roxas Boulevard and I noticed street signs which read PED XING. On our way back home, I again saw the signs. The signs reading PED XING appeared at certain intervals on the road. I couldn't take it anymore so I asked my dad who was driving, "Dad, who is PED XING?" (Most of you know that most streets along Roxas Blvd. are named after a famous figure in Philippine history.) Then my sister seconded, "Yes Dad, who is he? I've been seeing his name all over." (My sister, by the way, is almost 7 years older than I am and I'm 33 now.) In answer, my dad laughed hysterically and said, "Are you girls serious? I thought you two are the brains in the family. PED XING is PEDESTRIAN CROSSING!" Geez. Why didn't I think of that? It was then I remembered that X signifies the word cross. Ugh. I despise myself.

Oh geez. This post has turned out to be uber lengthy. Sorry readers! Anyhoot, Makoy's contest is lovingly sponsored by these wonderful...sponsors:

It's vacation time once again (at least here in the Philippines) and I'm sure many of you have already gone on trips. Of course, one trip is not enough since there's still a full month and some days left for summer vacation.☺ How I wish I could go on vacation, too. I would like to travel, perhaps to the province or maybe even to a nearby country and just chill out. I need to take a vacation. A relaxing time spent on an island would be a much welcome reprieve from the hustles and bustles of my daily life. I think I need to contact my dad for this since he owns a travel agency and can book me a flight with the best rates and he can even find me the best hotels. Keeping my fingers crossed so that my plans could push through.

When I was still working for an advertising agency, people in the Accounting Department (to which I belonged) knew me as the girl with the very messy desk. Sad, but true. LOL! My desk was messy in an organized sort of way. Huh? Well, it was messy but the mess was divided per task. Meaning to say one side of my desk was filled with invoices, bills, ledgers and books of account because that side is mainly for projects "to be billed". Then there's a side that's filled with binders, folders, files and other paperwork because that side is for reports and stuff. Then I have a small box on my desk that's filled with unused consumables - my supplies. All the items in their corresponding sides are haphazardly piled up. That's why it was messy. Of course, I did organize my desk from time to time. But the thing is, once my desk is all neat and tidy, I get lost. I can't find my way around my desk and worse, it decreased my productivity for the day because I had to spend more time looking for something unlike when it was messy and I always knew where to find something.

That's why when I learned of this Contest: Organized or Messy Desk - Which is Better?, I had to do a double-take and read through the article. The main idea behind the contest is to settle the score once and for all. Messy Desk vs. Organized Desk, which is better? Which yields better production? The debate is on! Let's get it on! What's the price at stake? An MDV3BA Pro Series Vacuum made by Metro Data Vac which has a retail value of $272.50. Pretty cool huh? How do you win the contest? You just need to write a blog post explaining why you think having a desk that's organized or a messy one is better. Simple write? For more details, go click on this link Contest: Organized or Messy Desk - Which is Better?

For this Tuesday, I decided to post my notes on this blog. That's actually why the title says # 2. Number 1 was posted on my Princess blog.

26 April 2010

I feel as if it's been a while since I last joined a blog contest. I guess it had something to do with hosting my own contest and my job. But after careful deliberation (Wahaha! What a term!) I decided to look around for cool contests to join.

I did find a contest to join. It's Follow Me Philippines Giveaway, a contest that's open to all bloggers from the Philippines. It's being hosted by Mommy Rubz of Pinay Mommy Online. There are a lot of prizes to be won but one particular prize I've set my eyes on is the Blogging from Home book that's included in the list. Mommy Rubz will draw the winners on the 20th of May via RANDOM.ORG.

There's no harm in wishing. In fact, those who are more likely to succeed in life are those who never tire of wishing. They make their wishes the fuel the fires them up in life's race.

With that in mind, a blog contest was born with the aim of granting or fulfilling the wish of a stranger or a fellow blogger. Sounds Oprah Winfrey-ish? Good. That's because Oprah is one of her inspirations for this blog contest. I'm talking about blankPixels' Make a Wish Blog Contest.

It's a contest that's open to all, meaning bloggers from the Philippines and everywhere else in the world can join. It started last 24th of April and will end on the 15th of May.

So how do you join the contest? Just click on the banner below.

25 April 2010

Hi there!

Only 5 days left until my blog contest draws to a close. I was adamant to hold the contest because I didn't think I could encourage enough sponsors to pledge their support, more so encourage participants to join the contest. But I'm amazed at how the contest was welcomed. I really appreciate everything. Thanks!
This will be the last points update that I'll be posting. Hopefully by next week, what I'll be posting are the names of the winners. Again, the points earned will determine whether you qualify for the grand prize drawing, 2nd place drawing and third place drawing. So even if you weren't able to pile up the points, it doesn't mean it's the end of the road for you.☺ Also, like I said in the past, I'll try to compensate the non-winners in any way possible. As for the sponsors, I owe you reviews. Don't worry, I'm already working on those reviews. I'll be posting them, one by one, any time soon.

Without further ado, here are the points as of 24th April, 2010:

I joined MyLikes months ago but I never really paid attention to how it works. I thought it was just a site where I can share about the things I love and like with people who share the same interests. Sort of like a social networking site. However, last April 13, I decided to read the fine print and I was able to understand that I could actually earn there. MyLikes is actually a word-of-mouth advertising platform which allows a long tail of influencers (that's us members) on the web to create endorsements for products and services they like. They give you a list of campaigns you can go over and if you think you're interested in that campaign or have actually tried it, you can post about it or tweet about it. Influencers are paid on a cost-per-click basis, meaning to say that if a reader or a follower clicks on the MyLikes link, you earn a certain amount of money. They're the ones who determine how much you can earn per click and in my case, it's set at $0.23 per click. This can change based on the effectiveness of my Likes.☺

I usually post my campaigns on Twitter, although I think I might have posted one or two Likes here already. I logged in to my account yesterday and saw that I have earned $2.14 already. They send out payments from $2.00 upwards every Friday so when I checked my inbox today, I learned that I've been paid.☺

There's the payment proof.☺ If you haven't any idea what it's all about, go ahead and click on the banner at the start of this post so you, too, may start earning.

Oh, they actually have a promo right now. If you refer the most number of users, you can win an Apple iPad. The duration is from 1st to 30th April so you still have a few days left.☺

21 April 2010

For all of the players out there who enjoy a few rounds of poker on Friday nights with the boys, the World Series of Poker is the penultimate event to be awaited and enjoyed after a year gambling on Caesars Online and other online sources for poker. Poker enthusiasts gather around their TVs to watch the games, and study the way that they are played out by professionals on TV, rather than on Caesars Online. Internet sources like Caesars Online are a great way for interested parties to learn more about poker, and some interesting information about the industry, too. Caesars Online is a site that professionals frequent, and amateurs wish they had known about, earlier.

For your World Series of Poker party this year, make sure to plan an event that people will remember until the World Series of Poker next year. The first thing you need to do is to select a theme for your poker party, like Old Hollywood, or Vegas. From your theme, you will know which kinds of things to buy for your party, like what color of plates, cups, napkins, and what kinds of alcohol to purchase. Your Old Hollywood themed party could feature drinks that used to be served in poker haunts near the Los Angeles studios where the famous actors would play poker, like Sloe Gin Fizzes. If you want to have a Vegas themed party, you could decorate your room like a casino and invite people to wear their tackiest outfits: get decorative ideas for your Vegas party from the style of Caesars Online.

After you have planned your World Series of Poker party, make sure to select the friends who will make your party really great. The people you spend your time with will make the difference between a fabulous poker gathering, and slight-of-hand parlor tricks that could result in you and your other friends losing money. Learn from the professional players when you are watching the World Series, and keep careful mental notes on which hands you think that you could play on your next visit to Caesars Online.

Although my immediate family is quite small, my extended family is as huge as it can get. I go to family reunions and I see young kids running around and when I ask how I’m related to them, my aunts would tell me they’re the kids of so and so. I never realized how big my family was until I saw throngs of young kids, both male and female lining up to get their presents. It’s a good thing I really enjoy shopping. Whether it’s personally going to the mall to buy stuff or just surfing the internet looking for online shops offering great deals, I’m all for it.

Since I’ll be doing a lot of clothes shopping for young girls in the coming days, I’m so happy that I found a site which gives a new twist to traditional online shopping. I’ve come across ShopWiki, an “encyclopedia” of sorts when it comes to online shopping. They work in such a way that they’re able to provide a buyer with anything and everything for sale on the web! When I visited the site, I was amazed at the wealth of information I found there. I know it's hard to shop for kids but I didn't have to make second guesses as to the correct sizes that I need because they provide sizing information. They also give out detailed information for every piece of item you want or need to buy and in my case, it was leg warmers or tights for a niece who's barely walking.

I'm certainly going to go back for more. I finally found what I can consider my shopping haven!

I can't believe the wealth of opportunities that are coming my way. Aside from my regular writing job, my Yahoo inbox has been filling up with other writing opportunities and it's something I'm welcoming with open arms. This is it. These opportunities sum up the silver lining that I'm looking for.

You might be wondering why I was looking for a silver lining. Well, last month, I hit an all time low as far as my personal life is concerned. I still can't get myself to write about it. It's nothing spectacular really. In fact, I know that I can pick myself up from the slump. It's just that it was something I wasn't expecting. Handling work pressure, blogging and an unwarranted problem was too much for me that I came to a point where I just wanted to give up.

But the outpouring of opportunities which has totally and completely made me pay attention to more important things instead of wallowing in misery was the silver lining on that cloud of loneliness. Because of this, I've decided to share some of my blessings to fellow bloggers who are in need of support in any way possible.
Thank God for blessings, thank God for people who are blessings in disguise and thank God for the wisdom and the strength He gave me to carry on.☺♥

After a long time, I decided to log in to my myLot account yesterday since I had a few minutes to spare while I waited for the 2nd game of the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) to start. While logged in, I received a notification that someone on my friends' list started a discussion. Her discussion was about a new (I have no idea how new, though) site where you get paid to work on micro tasks. Pretty much the same as Microworkers except that this site called Minute Workers has a lower payout threshold. At Microworkers, payout is set at $9.00. There at Minute Workers, the payout limit is only $2.00. She was looking for referrals and I wanted to help her out so I signed up.

I checked the site today and I saw that they have quite a number of tasks available so if one is really keen on earning, the $2.00 minimum payout can easily be reached in one day. I only did 2 tasks but I saw that 1 of them got approved already. If I have time later, I'd go back to Minute Workers to work on more tasks. If you haven't yet registered there, I would appreciate it if you could sign up under my name. LOL! Not-so-hidden agenda.☺

Oh, and since we're at it and since I've mentioned it on the get-go, if you're unfamiliar with myLot, it's a great community that allows you to interact with other people, share and exchange ideas and opinions and EARN real money. If you want to join, just click on the banner below.

When you make a large purchase, it’s usually best if you don’t do it on a whim. It can be fun to just see something and get it, but buyer’s remorse can hit hard soon after and that can take all of the pleasure out of your new toy. When you do a little research, you make sure that you not only get the perfect product for yourself with all of the features that make it perform at its best, but you know you got the best deal available at the time and there’s no room for remorse to rear its ugly head. Besides, getting exactly what you want at much less than what its worth is a rush you don’t want to miss out on!

When you have settled on the right computer for you and have maybe even chosen a customized exterior to make it personalized, then use one of the many Dell coupon codes available. Because there are multiple different offers at any given time, you can browse the different Dell coupon codes and calculate which deal will save the most money for you on your particular purchase. It’s nice to know that the next time you buy a computer you’ll feel good about your purchase in the long run because you used Dell coupon codes!

I've been hearing a lot of this song lately and honestly, instead of getting annoyed, the song has grown into me. Plus, I love Green Day so...

By the way, I decided to post this MM entry here for a change. LOL!
