30 June 2010

I waited and waited for a new project brief from my client but she hasn't sent me anything yet. So I was able to spend my Wednesday work and worry free. LOL! Seriously, I do worry about the articles I write especially since I know and I admit that the topics, although not necessarily out of my comprehension level, are way beyond my expertise. So as much as possible, when I work on those technical articles, I concentrate on them and only look for diversions when my creative juices stock up.

Being work-free today is a welcome respite and I'm savoring the moment.☺ I know that anytime soon, she'll be sending the new brief so while I'm free, I'm trying to do as much as I can as far as my other online activities are concerned.

Today, I spent most of the day catching up with one of my girl friends over at Facebook. Of course, I played games. I actually am still playing Cafe World as I write this post. I also just finished uploading songs to my phone. It's something I've been meaning to do but never had the time for, not until today. I'm also blog hopping, visiting my favorite blogs and all. So basically, I'm just chillaxing.☺

I could wish for everyday to be like this but I know that when I'm out of work even for just a few days, I get cranky and bored.☺

Anyways, have a blessed Wednesday everyone!☺

29 June 2010

I was finally able to watch the movie Killers the other night and I must say I really enjoyed the film. It stars Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. Ashton is an assassin working for the CIA but he keeps this fact secret from Katherine whom he met while the latter was on vacation in the French Riviera with her parents. They fell instantly in love and decide to get married and they lead an almost perfect married life until Ashton's 30th birthday. That's when Ashton's well-kept secret came out in the open and they learned that someone wanted Ashton killed. They also learned that the killer or killers could be anyone among the people they interact with on a daily basis including friends, family and workmates.

There were several scenes where Ashton was shirtless and I had no idea he had such a terrific body! *drooling* Demi Moore is one lucky cougar. Katherine Heigl was her usual drop-dead gorgeous self. I really liked her curly frock. It suit her fine.

I so love this song. One of my exes (LOL!) was a big R&B fan and he was the one who introduced me to this song. He actually referred to it as a one-hit wonder and although I object to the term, I believe he had a point.

Anyhoot, hit or not, I really love the song. It's actually part of the soundtrack of a 1999 film entitled The Wood referring to Inglewood, an LA suburb that's home mostly to Black middle class families. The story revolves around 3 guys who have been friends since junior high (Mike, Slim and Roland). It's Mike who narrates the story. Roland is about to get married but he got hit by wedding jitters and he decides to go MIA 3 hours before the ceremony. Slim and Mike tries to talk some sense into Roland and while they do so, the 3 friends goes back in time as they try to recall how their friendship started as well as other key moments of their friendship.

It's something out of the ordinary since it's about male friendship and wedding-day jitters. It's always nice to take a peek at how male friendships work.☺ I don't really know where the song figures because as far as I know, the song is for broken-hearted people. LOL! Oh well, I love the song anyway.

I'm just dropping by to let some of you know that I have read the comments you left but I haven't got the time to visit you all back just yet because I'm polishing the articles I'm about to submit to my client. There are 10 articles I need to submit in 2 formats so it's quite toxic. I hope you all understand. Hopefully I won't have anything scheduled for tomorrow so I'll do my rounds of blog visits til then.☺

Just wanted to assure you that I didn't ignore your comments nor did I forget to follow back. I'm just loaded and I want to get this over and done with so I can be free tomorrow to get back at all of you.☺

Oh, by the way, before I forget...I just want to share something cute and awesome to all of you. It was actually forwarded to me by my sister and I found it so cool so I thought why not share it with my readers. It's for a Dutch department store called "HEMA". The first store opened on November 4th, 1926 in Amsterdam and there are now 150 HEMA stores all over the Netherlands. This advertisement is part of their online shop.

Take a look at HEMA's product page. Don't try to order anything (it's in Dutch anyway) but just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens. Don't click on any of the items in the picture, just wait and see what happens. (Please follow these instructions so you too may appreciate the advertisement.)

This company sure has a great sense of humor and a great computer programmer.☺

To find out what I'm talking about, please CLICK HERE.

*Disclaimer: I am not promoting HEMA in any way. I just wanted to share the awesome programming of their products page.

20 June 2010

The weekend's almost over. I wish it was longer. I wish there were 3 weekend days instead of 2. Gee. I wish everyday was a weekend! LOL! Well, I have to go out in the battlefield again tomorrow. My client sent me a new project brief yesterday and although I thought of starting work on the articles, I decided to give myself 2 days off instead.

I think I deserved to rest especially since I haven't been feeling all that well. My head has been aching since last night and it's still there although I've taken some pills already. I hope my insomnia won't kick in tonight and it'll just let me sleep early. I've to gather my wits if I want to be productive tomorrow.

Oh, by the way, has any of you heard of Fribiz already? I received an invite earlier from a YM contact and she was inviting me to join the site. According to her e-mail, Fribiz is an online game that gives you the opportunity to win cool items by leveraging your social network. Hmm. Sounds interesting. I haven't looked into it yet because I was busy playing Facebook games. LOL! If any of you have registered for the site already, please share your thoughts about the site. Thanks!☺

19 June 2010

I regularly join a Thursday meme called Girls Talk. I'm assuming most of my readers know of this because some of them are regular participants of it, too. As the title suggests, it's a meme were us girls talk and share about anything under the sun and for this month of June, we're supposed to share about things inside our shower baskets, vanity kits, wallets and bags.

Last Thursday was devoted to what's inside our wallets and I have already posted the contents of my wallet in my Princess blog. All except one. I didn't post there a special note which my niece Aprille or Aejae as we fondly call her gave me back in 2002 when she was just 6 years old. Aejae is my only sister's youngest daughter. Since she has just discovered the wonders of note-writing then, she would ask me to buy her small note pads or stationery and she'll write each of us in the family little notes.☺ That's how sweet she is. She wrote it 2 years before they left for the States, where their family now resides.

Anyway, she gave me a note, which I distinctly remember she wrote while we were in the church, and told me to always keep it in my wallet. So, since 2002, the note has always been a constant content of my wallet. I've had dozen wallet changes since then but the note remains in my wallet still folded the way Aejae folded it 8 years ago.☺

Call me sentimental. That's me.☺

Here's the note my dear, sweet Aejae wrote for me:

And this is Aejae now, 8 years after she wrote that note:

She recently got her promotion from middle school and she'll be a freshman in September. She graduated with honors which makes me all the more proud of her. She's always been a bright kid. I love you Aprille Joei!☺

18 June 2010

I was not supposed to post anything tonight. I wanted to savor what little time I have without any pending articles.I wanted to just spend the evening watching my favorite team's basketball game while relishing the fact that the LA Lakers won earlier today. This is one rare feat for me, to be "work-less", and I have been for a day and a half already. Yipee!

After finishing the 10 technical articles, all about stuff I knew little about, and after reading my employer compliment me for a job well done, I felt as if I deserved to rest, albeit temporarily. Rest meant just playing games at Facebook and blog hopping. But I couldn't stay away.

Am I beginning to be too "blogging-dependent"? I guess not. I just love blogging and staying away from it even for a a day pains me. LOL! So here I am. Cheering for my favorite team as I watch their game on my TV set and typing away and I just realized I don't have anything to eat yet and it's way past dinnertime. Yep, I'm home alone for the day. The family went to watch Toy Story 3, my nephew's first time to watch a movie on the "big TV". Hmm. Gotta go visit McDonald's website to order online. See you again tomorrow guys!☺

17 June 2010

1. Have you ever wondered why snakes can't slither backwards? - No. I really don't care much about snakes. Period.

2. Is divorce contagious? - I don't think so. But if you think it is, save yourself from contracting the "disease" - DON'T GET MARRIED!

3. Do you enjoy hiking? - Kill me but I'm not much of a nature tripper.

4. Is there a color of a shirt a man should just never wear? - Green. Why? Because I don't like the color much.

5. Have you read a news story this week that just made your blood boil? - I live in the Philippines. Everything in the news is enough to make everyone's blood boil.

6. Do you keep old business cards or name tags from companies you have worked for? - Nah. Once I leave a company, there's no looking back.

7. If you could save an endangered species, which one would it be? - Turtles. I really don't know why, they're just the first ones that came to mind. I guess I'm thinking that they're needed to balance out the ecosystem so it would be great to save them.

8. When is it warm enough outside for you to start wearing shorts? - Everyday is warm enough in the Philippines so whether I'm going to the mall or running errands, I wear shorts.

9. Have you ever broken a window? - Not accidentally. I had to break it so I can go inside the house because I left my house keys inside and my dear brother decided to go out of town on a whim and locked the house with his set of keys.

10. Do dogs in your neighborhood howl when they hear sirens from police cars or fire trucks? - They do. In fact, they howl for no particular reason at all. It makes me think they're just out there to annoy me.

11. Have you tried doing something as an adult that you used to be able to do as a kid? - Yup...sleep in almost everyday. LOL! Even if I set my alarm, I always wake up late out of want.

16 June 2010

I'm trying to write this post using my mobile. I hope it works. I just wanted to say a quick hello to all of you and to share that I was able to finish the 10 technical articles I slaved on so hopefully I can join my Thursday memes and also work on some paid opportunities. Oh well...that's it for tonight. I wish you all a good night/day whichever part of the world you're in.

14 June 2010

What? The rainy season? Nah, it has kicked-in already, I think. I'm talking about PMS. LOL! Seriously, I'm starting to feel it kick-in. No wonder I've been too panicky and stressed the past couple of days. Worse, I've been craving for food (don't I always?), particularly salty and sweet food, again.

Oh geez. I feel awful. I slept last night with a big headache and I woke up this morning with the same headache even after I downed 3 Ibuprofens. Then I'm having abdominal cramps. On top of that, I am so pressured because of the articles I need to work on. I've been lazy the past days so I'm only on my 2nd article and there are 8 more to go.
I had to do a little blog hopping and this short post just to make sure my sanity remains intact. Now that I've got that covered, I have to get back to my articles. Sorry for not posting my memes for today. Just too busy.

13 June 2010

How time flies. It's Sunday again so here's another dose of Sunday Stealing. According to the host, today's meme was ripped off from Amid Life's Questions.

Sunday Stealing: The Dark Side Meme

1. You’re building your dream house. What’s the one thing that this house absolutely, positively MUST HAVE? (other than the obvious basics of course) - A veranda or terrace and a trellis. Think Romeo and Juliet. LOL!

2. What is your dream car? - Since I don't drive, I don't have any preference. But it has to be roomy with leather interiors.

3. What is your favorite website that isn’t a blog? - Facebook?☺

4. iPhone 4 or Droid, which do you want? - iPhone 4...although I'm using a Blackberry and a Nokia.

5. When you’re feeling down or lonely or just generally out of sorts, what do you do to cheer yourself up? - I write. I vent out through writing and after I do, I always find myself feeling a lot better.

6. Tell me about something or someone that you love that most people seem to hate. - That would have to be my ex whom everybody in my family hated but I loved him. But I soon realized that everybody was justified with their indifference towards the guy.

7. What do you want to be when you grow up? - Hah! I am grown up...or so I think. Happy.

8. Would you go on a reality show if given the chance? - Nah. I don't intend to make a circus out of my life.

9. Who was your favorite teacher when you were growing up. (Grade school, Middle School, Jr. High or High School only.) - Never had a favorite because all my teachers were intimidated by me. I guess that's cause I always stood up for what's right and I had a habit of challenging them.Oh, but I won't forget my Grammar teacher in my senior year of high school because she said I had the makings of a good writer.

10. You get one pass to do something illegal or immoral. What are you gonna do? - Travel around the world without securing a visa and with my expired passport.

11. What were you doing 10 years ago? - I was working for an advertising agency, was in a relationship and was simply enjoying life.

12. By this time next year, I ...wish to have found the one.

13. Do you think the United States will elect a female President in your lifetime? Do you think this would be a good thing? - I live in a country where the outgoing President is a female. My advice to the people of the United States? Don't ever elect a female President.

14. Which fictional, TV show character you would shag anytime? - Oh gosh. Damon Salvatorre of The Vampire Diaries.

15. What is your greatest pet peeve? - Arrogant and stupid people.

16. Tell me about your most recent trip of more than 100 miles? - It was an out-of-town trip last December. It was fun inasmuch as I needed the short vacation but I didn't enjoy to the hilt because I was in the company of my SIL's family. Don't get me wrong, they were all kind. But I would've enjoyed more if I was with my relatives.

17. Which do you use more often, the dictionary or the thesaurus? - Dictionary, I guess. I have an application on my cell phone so it's easier to access.

18. Do you have a nickname? What is it? - Yup. It's Bambie.

19. What are you dreading at the moment? - I'm thinking I may not be able to deliver my articles on time. But I will. I have to.

12 June 2010

No, not mine.☺ I'm still trying to recover from the hype brought about by my own contest which I held a couple of months back. LOL! Just kidding. I enjoyed every inch of it and I know I still owe some people some things.

The Thanksgiving Contest I'm referring to is that of the husband and wife tandem of Noel and Levy Martinez. The contest is mainly to give thanks for all the blessings that came the couple's way during the past year and they have decided that sharing their blessings to others is a great way to say "Thank You".

I'm still undecided when it comes to joining the contest because I have a lot of things on my hands. I just received another brief from my Italian client and the brief is for 10 technical articles which are due on the 17th. So there. Anyway, I just wanted to help Levy spread the word so I decided to post about it.☺ Here's a list of the prizes up for grabs:

1st Prize: $100

2nd Prize: $30

3rd Prize: $20

4th & 5th Prize: $10 each

10 June 2010

Yay! It's Thursday once again so it's time for Thursday Thunks, that meme where one really has to THINK before blogging.☺ Here's an overview of what it's all about:

We pick a subject, and your job is to interpret it anyway you want.
Write about it on your blog... simple as that.
Maybe you can interpret it as a picture - we don't care!
So, off we got to my 2nd official entry as a TT participant.

Driver's Ed. Demon #1 is taking it right now. Did you pass your driver's test the first time you took it? - I have never taken one nor will I ever. I don't want to end up in something like this:

You are sitting outside on your deck in your comfy lawn chair, feet are up and the temp outside is perfect. There are no bugs to bite you and ruin the night... it's peaceful and all you can hear is the birds singing and an occasional cricket. Whats in your hand? - A very good book.

How many graduation parties and weddings do you have to attend this summer? Ok.. how many are you invited to? - None.☺ Which is good actually. I wouldn't have to buy a new dress, right?

There is no other choice in the matter - you must transform into a different race, but the catch is that you get to pick which race. What will you now be? - Latin American.

Someone once said that the grass isn't greener on the other side... are you jealous of your neighbor's lawn? - No because they don't have one!

Bud is walking along a beach barefooted and steps on a piece of glass buried deep in the sand. His foot is bleeding... does he cry, swear or stomp around on his other foot? - He does all 3 but not in that order. First he swears, then he stomps around on his other foot, then he cries after realizing what a fool he is.

I'm gonna take you fishing... are you going to be a whiney baby and not bait your own hook and when you catch a fish am I gonna have to take it off the hook for you? - Definitely! I'm not a big fan of creepy crawly thingies anyway so you'd definitely have to bait my hook for me.

From a Facebook friend: When asked what would you bring with you to a deserted island, why doesn't anyone answer "a boat"? - Because he already has one. How else could he have gotten on that deserted island if he didn't have a boat, right? But then again he could have been a victim of a plane crash. In that case, he can build a boat from the woods he'll find in the island.

Hamburger buns - sesame seeds or not? - No sesame seeds, please.

From Demon #1: Whats your favorite flavor of water? - These:

Eclipse is coming out this month... are you going to see it? - Hell, yeah!

09 June 2010

I was sitting here trying to construct sentences and paragraphs about "bed in a bag" sets when I realized that I'm not part of any Wednesday memes. LOL! Yep,that's me alright. I work and I blog hop and I write blog posts...and I said I didn't know how to juggle!

I went over the memes I have joined and I saw that I have joined at least 2 memes for each of these days: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. There's a meme I try to join every Friday but the thing is sometimes the theme for the week isn't posted yet when I visit the site until I totally forget about it.
I do know that there's a meme every Wednesday but I'm not sure if I'm ready to join it. It's pretty obvious how much of a blabber-mouth I am and keeping silent for one day would prove to be too much. LOL!

Oh well.☺
