It's Saturday again. Geez. The days seem to fly by so swiftly. I don't have anything else to do so I'm just lazing in front of my desktop posting this one and playing Farmville while working on some fun quizzes over at Blogthings. While doing all those, I'm also watching a basketball game on TV. My favorite team is playing so I can't miss it for the world. LOL! I'm thinking of what to post but obviously, nothing important came to mind. That's why I'm relegated to posting random stuff. Forgive me. Oh well.

Speaking of the quiz I took at Blogthings, here's the result.

Your Common Spelling Mistake Score: 100% Correct

Your spelling is excellent.

You don't fall for common spelling pitfalls, and you spell almost everything correctly.

On to other stuff...did I tell you guys that my blogversary is less than 4 months away? Yes, that's right and it so happens that that's my birth month as well. Now I'm thinking, should I host a contest? Hmmm. Maybe. The thing is, I can't come up with any ideas and I'm scared that I might not be able to handle the pressure. LOL. Hay. Well, I still have several months to think it over.

Now I have to end this senseless babbling. My nephew's egging me to help him with that PSP game he's playing. Yes, a two year old kid is playing Transformers on his PSP and he wants me to help him maneuver Optimus Prime. Okay now. It's time for some major ass-kicking!

Sometimes, it's better to be lost anywhere in this world where you can ask for directions rather than be lost inside yourself where redemption lies in your hands alone.

18 November 2009

Hey wait! Before I get violent reactions from readers of this blog, I just want to say that it's just a quiz result. Bambie dearest shared the result of this quiz she took and I took it too to see what my birthdate means. So here are the results:

There's an on-going votation for the Top Health Blogger under the Parenting Community over at WellSphere and one of the candidates is one my favorite mommy bloggers, Pehpot of Make or Break. You can vote for Mommy Pehpot here. Or by clicking the badge I have over there at the right-hand side of my blog.

Mommy Pehpot just recently gave birth to a very pink, very cute, very healthy baby girl named Sati and I know she'll consider it your post-baby shower gift to her if you vote for her. You still have plenty of time to vote for her so go right ahead and click here.

Oh my! Inspiration sure does hit you when you least expect it. I was sitting here for the past...ooh, I've lost track of the hours. I was just basically shuffling from a blank post page to my Facebook account to dropping ECs. I didn't know what to write about because I can't get my mind to work. I've so many things on my mind and I'm worried about something so I was relegating myself to the fact that I won't be able to post anything.

Then, ding-dong-ding! A comment from one of my sweetest blogger friends, Elai, telling me she has lotsa lots of awards for moi. I hop on to her blog and true enough, they're all there. Oh man! Now I finally have a genuine smile on my face.☺ Thanks so much sweet Elai! You've put a smile on my face and you inspired me enough to come up with this post.

Incidentally, I also received the same awards from Shaine of Scraps of Life. Shaine, kind-hearted Shaine, is the one who designed the layout of this blog as well as that of my other blog. She actually give freebie templates! Isn't that grand? I haven't thanked her formally yet for letting me use her templates. So this is my simple way of thanking her. Thanks Shaine!

It always feels great whenever I receive an award from fellow bloggers. Not only do awards make me feel appreciated. They make me feel important, loved and somehow, it gives me the feeling that at least one person is reading my blog. LOL! Anyway, here are the awards:

I'm passing on the above awards to the following bloggers whom I have come to consider friends of mine as well. I pass these on to you for the simple reason that you make my blogging more enjoyable, fun and inspiring:

Joy | Red | Niko | Bambie | Kaye | Mye | Fedhz | Marie | Rose | Kikamz | Dhemz | Pehpot | Mara | Czaroma | Liezl and special mention to 'Kuya' Mel, the only thorn among these pretty roses.☺

Nowadays, people prefer staying and earning from the comfort of their own homes. It is justifiable if you think about it. You spend less in terms of car fuel, you save from spending money to buy lunch and you’re spared from other stuff which may trap you into shelling out some hard-earned cash. You work at your own time, you have no boss to answer to, you can work leisurely and the best part of all, you get to save more.

Add to that, you can work and have fun at the same time. Well, at least, that’s what I do. I work from home as a freelance writer and I also get to do some other fun stuff while working like blog, blog hop, join forums for earning extra cash, and look for other ways to earn a few extra cents and play. Yes, I love playing online games.

Primarily, I was relegated to playing games online through my Facebook account. There are also several websites where you can download games into your computer. But one type of online game I found, which may win me somewhere around $100-$150 a day is online roulette. I am no gambler, mind you. But it’s very easy to see why more and more people start playing online roulette. It’s because it’s fairer than if you play the real thing and I personally think it’s easier.

Like I said, I’m no expert in casino gaming. However, I have found a very good source for information about online roulette systems. I’m still trying to digest everything in that website about roulette systems and once I’ve fully taken them in, look out world, here I come a-conquering the world of online roulette gaming!

Last month, I was doing my usual blog walking and was reading posts from Mye's Blog Appetite, when one particular post caught my attention. It was for the $5 winner of the blog contest she's holding - a random winner was chosen from all the participants who displayed the contest's badge on their blogs. She did state there that she would be giving surprises along the way prior to the culmination of the contest this Sunday, 15th November. Anyway, I ended up the winner. Tee-hee-hee!

After that, Mye said she has another surprise waiting for those who will include her blogs, all three of them: Blog Appetite, Home and Parenting, Scrap Like Crazy in their Technorati favorites. Well, I'm a good girl so I did just so. Surprise, surprise! Who would've thought I'd make it two-in-a-row?☺ Last 10th November, Mye posted the random winner, and yes, it was me again. LOL! Random.org must love me. Tee-hee-hee!

Just a few more days and Mye's blog contest is drawing to a halt. It was a great experience for me because it's the first blog contest I ever joined and now I'm certain it's also going to be the most memorable.☺ Thank you so much Mye and God bless!

I think one of the things on a writer’s "anytime" wish list is a netbook. I, for one, have listed it at the top of my list. I’m sure that most work-at-home mothers who try to augment the family income with some web content writing wish for one, too. Of course, a desktop PC is still tops. The one I use at home is still in good condition because we regularly update the hard drive and we just bought a new flatscreen monitor.

But you can't contest the portability of a netbook. It’s very small, compact, and lightweight so you can easily bring it along with you especially if you want some inspiration but can’t seem to find it in the comfort of your own home. Ideal for people on the go, a netbook can easily be stashed away in your bag or purse.

One particular netbook I have my eye on is the HP Mini 1140NR 10.1" Vivienne Tam Netbook. It is the first digital clutch designed by no less than the famous Vivienne Tam (it’s in floral red!), but the specifications of this mini notebook computer competes well with others: 1.0 GHz processor speed, Pentium III, 1.0GB memory, 60GB hard drive size, 10.1” display size, and all these in a very compact 2.4lbs mini notebook computer! It also comes in built with the Windows XP Home operating system.

With all those specifications, how can you go wrong, right? Also, look at that photo with the woman. It's compact enough to pass for an elegant clutch bag. Geez. I like it! I need it! I want it! That’s why this is at the top of my wish list for this year.☺

I was so surprised when Ms. Marie of Travelin' with Marie informed me that she has an award waiting for me. I've been visiting her blog eversince I chanced upon it through Entrecard but we never really had a chance to interact with one another until recently. I decided to follow her blogs because I always find something interesting to read in her blogs.

Anyway, Ms. Marie is sweet enough to grant me an award, which I whole-heartedly accept, of course.☺ She's bestowed upon me "The Best Blog Award" and for that, I thank you, Ms. Marie, from the bottom of my heart.

Incidentally, Elai of Elai's Haven also honored me with the same award and I'm grateful to her. She's one sweet preggy mommy who never fails to drop some love on my blogs.

Now for the rules in accepting this award:

To accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his/her blog link. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you have recently discovered and think are great! Remember to contact the bloggers you've awarded to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

So I am now passing this on to the following:

 ♥ Shaine
Melody
Krisel
Twerlyn
Spinning Lovely Days
Dhemz
Marice
Mhai
Tricia
Dez
Mariuca
Texas_Sweetie
Joy
Niko

In my other blog, I featured my favorite accessories. Most of what I featured are jewelries because I really love jewelries. It doesn't matter if the piece is simple, as long as it's elegant. Pretty much like this freshwater pearl jewelry set I saw online. A dainty, gorgeous heart-shaped design with the button pearls set on 18k white gold with cubic zirconium down one side.

Or this pair of elegant drop earrings in butterfly design with cubic zirconium embedded on the wings.

Now I wonder, should I get the set or just the pearl earrings? Or maybe I should just get both or better yet, ask my parents to get them for me. Better idea, huh? Anyway, the e-commerce site offers great discount pearls, either loose or made into sets already. What do you think?☺

I've yet to experience the joys of motherhood as I'm still single. However, I helped in taking care of my 2 grown-up nieces and am now taking care of my 2-year old nephew so I can somehow relate to mothers out there who feel as if days pass by quickly. That's why when I learned about Baby Home Pages, I thought to myself, "This will be a great thing to share to mommies out there so they can immortalize their children's childhood online."

Baby Home Pages offers a safe, private, free and easy way to create your child's personalized website to keep friends and family updated, document your on-going pregnancy, create a digi-scrapbook for the child or share your child's many "firsts". I know one mommy who can do well with this: Mommy Pehpot who recently gave birth to a very healthy and pink baby girl they fondly call Sati.☺

If you're a mom (or a dad) who wants to share and immortalize your kid's precious moments for all the world to see, just click on the banner above or visit Baby Home Pages.

You may be wondering, "Why the heck does she need a bath robe?" or "She doesn't have a bath robe?" Well, I actually do have a bath robe but it's silk so it doesn't really serve it's purpose of keeping me warm (or dry, for that matter) after a bath. So I'm thinking of gifting myself a new one, much like this cotton terry bath robe I found:

Cute, right? I just love the color! It's not purple, but I also love the color pink so this will do.  A terry bath robe is warm and fluffy enough to keep me comfy and cozy after a bath, especially since I love taking cold showers. The belt will also keep me snug. I really need one ASAP because most of the time, some relatives of my sister-in-law drop by our house and stay on for days and it makes me uncomfortable taking a bath and coming out of the shower just wrapped up in my towel knowing that there are other people in the house. So instead of running for dear life from the bathroom to my bedroom lest someone sees me, a bath robe will suffice.

I also have my eyes set on a pink waffle bath robe. At least it's not as heavy as that one above, just right for the climate here in the Philippines, but good enough to still keep me snug and comfy after a bath. The manufacturers of the one I saw even offer to have my full name or monogram stitched on the robe. Cool, huh? Or, this really cute bath wrap just might do the trick, minus the model of course! No need to tie a belt, and there's no risk of the belt becoming loose. Just look:

Such a cutie pit, isn't it? Blue will do and besides, Hello Kitty is one of my favorite Sanrio characters. Oh well. Decisions, decisions. I have to make one and fast before sister-in-law's relatives come by again!

We all know how fatal cigarette smoking can be. It can lead to various diseases like lung cancer, esophagus cancer and female smokers are at a greater risk of cervical cancer. Add to that are the following: heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and even high blood pressure. That's why family members urge their loved ones who are smokers to quit while there's still time.

However, we all know that quitting this vice is easier said than done. One can have the determination and the will to quit but if he doesn't receive proper help, it would be hard to quit smoking. That is where CigArest comes in. CigArest has developed a 'stop smoking program' in the form of their CigArest Formula which helps smokers deal with the stress and pain of the withdrawal symptoms, especially in the days following the resolve to quit.

The developers of CigArest are now offering a free 90-day trial of their CigArest Kit which consists of chewable tablets, gums, vitamins and even an instructional audio CD to help one control his cravings and eventually stay smoke-free.

Visit CigArest's website now to learn more. It is possible to quit with CigArest!

I must admit that I dote on my little nephew. At 2 years and 8 months, he’s very smart and witty and those are just a few of the things I love about him. I’ve seen him progress from beanie toys to Thomas the Tank Engine sets. But lately, he’s into ball games. He’s got his own basketball set composed of a ring, a goal and of course, a basketball. Seeing that he’s into sports now, I’m thinking of buying him a portable football goal. That way, he can acquaint himself with the sport and maybe this early, develop a liking for the sport.

I want him to be sports-minded because it won’t only help him develop friendship with others but also help him become more mentally, physically and emotionally active and prepared. So yes, I am contemplating on getting an inflatable football goal. I just think that football is a mental game and that would be a perfect hobby for my nephew. Now all I need to do is look the web up for sites providing more details about inflatable football goals.

Here's my nephew Keoni and I guess you can already tell why he's bedazzled me.☺

In my never ending qust to look for online money-making opportunities that involve writing, I came across a very good site. As you all probably know, I work as a freelance writer and since being one leaves me with some spare time on my hands to accomplish other things, I always, as in always, look for ways to earn a little extra here and there while doing one of the things I love the most - WRITING.

Well, fortunately, in my wanderings, I came across ShortTask. The name speaks for itself - ShortTask is a website catering to the needs of Seekers (people who are looking for other people to work for them on, yes, short tasks) and Solvers (people like me who always look for work at home jobs).

There are various tasks that one can accomplish at ShortTask including reviews, bookmarking, article writing, commenting. Tasks which are highly applicable to people constantly seeking for work at home jobs. This is also perfect for work-at-home moms.

So if you know you have a knack for writing or any of the stuff I mentioned above, come and join me at ShortTask and start earning extra money from simple work at home jobs.

The day didn't start out right for me. I should be saying, "'Nuff said." Nevertheless, I'm taking this moment to rant and to rave. After all, that's the general theme of this blog - a peek into my thoughts (or basically what goes on in this crazy mind of mine!).

I woke up at 9am, earlier than usual (yep, 9am is early for me because I usually don't fall asleep until around 2 or 3 in the morning) because I had to go to the bank to claim my monthly remittance from my parents and to get my brother's as well. When I got there, the manager told me that the authorization letter (complete with my brother's passport and company ID) won't do and that my brother needs to make a personal appearance. I understand their policies and all that crap. But the thing is, my brother and I always go to that bank, that branch, at least twice a month and all the staff and even the 2 managers know us, know what we do there every month. Something came up that's why my brother couldn't make it but they couldn't even bend their rules just a tiny bit. Oh heck...rules are rules. Fine! Hmpt!

The bank was packed, probably because it's the last banking day of the week, and by the time I finished my business there, the sun was way, way up and was so friggin' hot already. I had to commute (Huhuhu! Good thing there was an overpass so I didn't have to cross the busy street) back to the boutique (my brother's & sis-in-law's) to tell my brother the bad news. Thanks to Mr. Sun, the makings of a nasty headache was pushing it's way out. Ugh! Just what I need - a migraine attack! I stayed about an hour there, just enough for my brother to convince me to buy a new phone. Now I suddenly remembered why I hate hanging out with him - he's such a smooth-talker an his convincing powers are way up there. It's really in my to-do list, but not this soon. I was intending to buy around December or early January. Oh geez. Well, at least I have a new phone now.☺

By the time I got home, it was already a full blown migraine. But since I have to do some stuff online which cannot wait, I had to take something to relieve me of my migraine. Since migraine runs in our family (both sides, isn't that grand?) my mom never fails to include several boxes of Excedrin Migraine in the goody boxes they send twice a year. I took my usual dose, 2 caplets. The active ingredients of one Excedrin Migraine caplet are: 250 mg of Acetaminophen, 250 mg of Aspirin, and 65 mg Caffeine (yes, it has caffeine). Do the math. I have to hand it to trustee old Excedrin Migraine though, the migraine was gone in 30 minutes flat.

Migraine gone, I turned my desktop PC on  sorted my inbox. Lo and behold, there was a surprise for me! There was an e-mail from PayPal telling me Netverdix sent $2.00 to my account. Truth is, I already forgot about that! I can't even recall when I signed up for Netverdix. LOL! But it was there.

Looks like my day hadn't been so bad after all.☺ To top it off, I decided to advertise my blog again with Adgitize and as I was writing this kinda lengthy post, I received an e-mail from Ken telling me I've been approved. Great! I'm hoping for great results for me and my blog this month. So I guess I can really say that what started off as a bad day, ended on a good note.☺

P.S.

As I was finishing off this post, I received a call from someone verifying if my shoe size was 5. "Yes," I said. He says, "Okay. I'm buying you lavender espadrilles and I just wanted to make sure." Lavender espadrilles. Another item in my wish list. Yes, today is definitely a good day!☺ Happy weekend everyone!

05 November 2009

I've been an Adgitize member since August of this year but can you believe that I only started earning from it middle of September? Yes, as stupid as it sounds, I wasted a month and a half doing nothing, not taking advantage of my Adgitize membership.

So after mentally kicking myself once I started seeing the benefits of Adgitizing in mid-September, I started being a serious Adgitizer. I'm glad I did because I finally qualified for a payout! Yay!

My first Adgitize payment!☺ It's there, it's really there! It's only $15.01 but it's enough to fire me up. Now more than ever, I am convinced that Adgitizing is one of the best decisions I have made, so far, in my online journey. Here's hoping I could reach payout again this month.

I have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. Unfortunately for me, my parents thought guitar playing was boys only so I had to settle for piano lessons. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed every bit of my piano lessons. It’s just that I thought playing the guitar was way cooler. But being the good daughter I was (or so I think!), I never insisted on that.

So you can just imagine my joy when, just a few days back, I came across one site offering easy guitar lessons on DVD. Of course, before I do decide to purchase it, I have to consider some things first. Like what are the benefits of learning to play the guitar with DVDs? So I researched some and here’s what I found out:

1.) It is a lot cheaper than having to pay someone for lessons. I’m gauging that those who offer guitar lessons charge per session so that could anywhere be between $ 5 - $ 15.00 whereas a one-time purchase of the DVD would save me a lot of money.

2.) It would be very convenient for me. I don’t have to leave the house to attend my lessons.

3.) The lessons are provided or taught by a very efficient, quality instructor. I’ve seen clips of the video and a qualified instructor actually shows the student how it’s done and explains what he’s doing.

Those are three of the benefits of learning to play the guitar with DVDs. Best of all, you can freeze a certain frame if you really want to study the proper fingering. Cool, right? So having studied all those facts and after consulting with my parents and relaying to them the benefits of learning to play the guitar DVDs, I am this close to convincing them.

Now if you guys want to learn to play the guitar from the comfort of your own home, similar to having a private instructor, I highly recommend that you visit the site.

My mom and I were chatting earlier today via Yahoo messenger and she told me that one of her friends in Palmdale, California (that's where my parents live), is relocating to another state. My mom wanted to help her friend in any small way she can but since she's not that young anymore, she knows she couldn't help her friend physically. Now since my mom is an internet junkie, I told her to visit Moving Plus Storage, a website dedicated to helping people who are moving and relocating.

Moving Plus Storage offers all kinds of help one might need when relocating: from the best deals in truck services, storage locations, storage companies, finding a mover to fast and easy moving services. You can even request for a free quote just by entering the zip code of the city you're in right now to the city you're moving to. Cool, right? It's really one amazing site and that's what I told my mom and as we were chatting, she readily called her friend to tell her.

So if you're from the USA and you're planning on moving or relocating to another city and you want fast, easy and reliable service, try Moving Plus Storage.

It's about that time of the month so it's no wonder why I'm craving too much for food. What kind of food? Anything. Something sweet, salty, oily. In short, fattening. LOL! Oh, I love and hate this time of the month.☺ Anyway, it took me sometime before I finally settled on a topic to write about today. Simply because my creative juices are stuck somewhere up here.*points to my head* There must be some clogged pipes up there.

Well actually, there is something I want to write about briefly. It's about a woman I met 3 years ago (July 2006) to be exact. Her name is Marichu Agnes Escobio and I fondly call her "EAM" (pronounced 'Yam'), which is a play on her initials. Anyway, we met on the 1st day of our CORE training for HSBC where I used to work as a Process Executive (better known as AGENT). She was from another call center while it was my first time to work in one. We actually hit it off right from the get-go, probably because we shared some things in common, one of which is being born in March (although a year apart) and we were both Christians. We're also 'mataray' or snobbish (some would say b*tchy), although Eam would fight to the finish and say I'm more snobbish than she is. We were also reluctant agents because we were both stuck in a field with literally nothing to do with the courses we took in college. She took up Accounting and was just buying time before she took the board and I took up Journalism, so we were always wondering how the heck we got into customer service.

To cut the long story short, we became fast friends and even after I left the call center industry, we still continued hanging out, mostly after her shift (she gets off from work around 6am). She left HSBC just this year to review for the CPA board exams. She was late for the May exams so she enlisted herself for the October exams. Since it's already November, I decided to look up the list of passers. Truth be told, Eam made it! I am so proud of my friend. She didn't make it to the Top 10, but at least she passed.

There she is on the 1025th item.☺ I'm so happy for her, so much so that I decided to devote this whole post to her. Congratulations, Eam! To all the other passers and to those who may know someone who passed, please extend my congratulations and well-wishes to them.☺

02 November 2009

How time flies! I feel as though it was just a few weeks ago when I was thanking my loyal EC droppers for September and now, it's time to acknowledge my October top droppers.

This should've been posted yesterday. However, I took an unscheduled 2-day hiatus from the online world this past weekend. It wasn't because I went somewhere (last weekend being Halloween and All Saints' Day). I just stayed home, actually. But because of Typhoon Santi, there was a power outage at our place last Saturday, 31st October, from like 5 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. By the time the power resumed, I was too lazy to go online because I was stuffing myself full with chicharon baboy, chocolate cake, pizza, mojos and chips. Then yesterday, Sunday, my sis-in-law and I spent the whole day exchanging spooky stories (I love sharing spooky stories with her because she's such a scaredy cat!). Anyway, I'm blabbering again.*rolls eyes* Geez, can't seem to shake the blabbering off.

On to more important things, I am posting below my top EC droppers for the month of October and as a token of appreciation to them for regularly visiting my blog, I am featuring their links at the left-hand side of my blog.☺

Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you very much!
