A friend of mine is having her house renovated and she’s thinking of having new flooring installed. She actually wants marble flooring but since she has little children running around the house, I advised her to just use laminated flooring instead.
Laminate Floor is better than marble flooring because it’s less slippery. It would eliminate the risk of her kids slipping and hitting their head on the floor. Anyway she can just place are rugs where they are needed. There is a great store that offers a lot of choices on laminate floors at very affordable prices and they even give suggestions on what would look good in her house. Best of all, they also offer installation of the flooring so she can be sure that the installation will be done properly. If you’re also thinking of changing the floors in your house, check that site out and feast on their premium selection.
Inch by slow inch our new house is beginning to look like a home. Now, there aren’t as many boxes out there on our patio. It’s actually beginning to look a lot like a patio now compared to its condition last week where it seemed like one big pile of rubbish. At least now we can see the
flagstone patio design and not the half empty/half full boxes which housed some of our stuff.
Moving can be so much of a hassle, that much is true. My mom worked and is still working her guts off trying to make the house look and feel like a home and I laud her efforts. Actually, she and dad have been doing the bulk of the work, tidying the place up. I want to help but unfortunately, I can only do so much because of my work and because of my allergies. But I know they understand.
We completed our move to our new house last week and the week that has just passed was spent setting up what needed to be set up and fixing those that needed some touch-ups. Now I’m starting to see some improvements as far as the redecorating goes. We decided to set up everything first before we got down to cleaning the house.
The new house has a lot of windows so the house really looks bright. For right now we use curtains to downplay the glare of the sun. However, we’re thinking if we should have blinds installed and then just partially cover it with curtains if ever. I think I might have to look for a company to help us with
blinds and window treatments. Of course we want to make sure that whatever we put on the windows will not seem out of place so we might need expert care on that regard.
When my parents went to the USA in 2005, my brother and I moved to a smaller house, a townhouse more specifically. Since it was just the two of us who would be living there, we opted for a two-bedroom unit. He got the bigger of the two rooms because during that time, he already had plans of getting married. We still live in the same townhouse although we’re now 2 persons fuller (his wife and kid).
The house is just the right size for us, not too big and not too small. We have a garage but we don’t have a lawn out front, hence, we don’t have a garden. There is a space at the back, though, which can be converted into a pocket garden. However, it looks like we won’t be using that space for a pocket garden, but instead we will be extending the ground floor farther. That’s after my parents told us that they might be coming home in September.
Since there are only two bedrooms in the house, that space at the back might be converted into a bedroom for my parents. My brother and SIL are already looking for someone who can make the space “livable”. I, on the other hand, am already thinking of how to decorate my parents’ would-be bedroom. Since most of the furniture we have in our living room and kitchen are made of wood, I’m thinking of getting some
rustic furniture to fill my parents’ room up. I’m sure they’ll love it. It’s actually the theme my SIL and I are trying to build on – a country theme. I’m already excited to hunt for rustic furniture because I know that that particular type of furniture can add a touch of warmth and give a tranquil feel to any room, exactly just what my parents need so they can relax to the max!
About two weeks ago, while my SIL and I were having lunch, I heard a distinct tinkling sound. You know how it sounds like when you hit two glasses together? That’s the sound I heard. I found that weird considering that neither of us was drinking water from our glasses.
When we were clearing up the table, I found out what made the sound. It turned out that the glass top of our dining table cracked a bit. We’re still not sure how it cracked. My SIL and I didn’t drop anything there. My brother said that the glass cracked probably because of the heat. Suffice it to say, we’re assuming that the glass top already has a small crack which was aggravated. To top it off, the leg of one of our
Dining Chairs got broken.
I have no idea how it happened. I’m thinking it’s because we have a constant visitor to the house who has the bad habit of tilting chairs backwards. It’s a good thing the leg broke as I was putting the chair back into place and not while someone was sitting there. So now we’re on the lookout for a new dining set. Either that or we’ll just buy new dining chairs and a glass top for our table.
